Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD has built-in TV tuner, sex appeal
Remember the Samsung P2370HD monitor? Well, this is it at 27 inches. How's that for concision? Oh, you want more -- well, Samsung must've expected you to, because it's also added a TV tuner and a HDMI input to its latest Full HD display, to go along with a 5ms response time and a 50,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio. There's also a pair of 3 watt stereo speakers that can simulate 5.1 channel sound -- good for emergencies or if you just can't stand speakers cluttering up your desktop. Filling out the goodie bag are Picture In Picture and Picture By Picture modes, which should make good use of the extra real estate on the screen by combining, for example, your desktop with a TV source. The price is set at 549,000 Won (or about $473) for Korea, though global availability looks imminent so don't rush to import it just yet.

i always wanted to know how does hairy taste like
wha?
I'll admit something is exuding sex appeal, but I don't think it's coming from that rather ordinary HDTV. One thing about Samsung. They definitely know how to display their products. Korean male buyers must be a bunch of horndogs. No way that model is more than twenty-something. Not that it would matter to me.
I think at this point we can just say it Samsung has some of the best model's for there advertising...
She looks like a plastic dummy to me..... Maybe I just cant tell plastic dummies and real models apart.
Dunno why, but I always digg more photos of SAMSUNG models. I guess it's in my gene.

Didn't you know that asians look younger than they really are?
Doesn't this make it a TV?
yes. yes it does.
There's no way I would use that a computer monitor. 1920x1080 at 27inches would make a very bad monitor..
How come there's alway a female model near every Samsung TV?
you should be asking why ISN'T there a female model near EVERYTHING ELSE
I don't know but I think she is pretty hot. I don't know who who helps who but I want to buy both..but I don't think she is for sale
It's the Korean gadget press shot formula: New gadget + hot/questionably hot model + wide-angle lens = makes you want to buy something in the photo ...
apparently the sex appeal is so out there that it has to sit NEXT to the moniter
MEH. next time have them wear less clothing and i might be sold, might.
Woah, look at all that bezel.
Do not want.
I have the 26 inch version of this (well, really 25.5) ... it does not disappoint in any way. The bezel isn't cumbersome at all, on mine it's the TOC line, so it has a faint burgundy tint -- very classy. The HDTV tuner is fast and decodes signal better than many other tuners I've tried. It has better-than HD screen resolution, which helps make SD content look exemplary -- it also has fantastic options for resizing the screen. Mine has multiple HDMI inputs, component, composite, etc. Just about everything you could want. I don't think it's graphic-design quality -- but your average geek would love it. Needless to say -- I want this one very much. Wife is gonna get the old one.
I have the 23" inch. Big bezel is big... how are you meant to get your eyefinity on with this?!
If it's anything like the smaller ones, it takes like 10 seconds to turn on as well :(
Yeah, the bezel on these doesn't get in the way, and it looks amazing. (I had the 2570HD which has the similar bezel.) As a TV, it was adequate, I suppose... it's a little TV. As a monitor, it was junk, and I returned it.
I'm not into girls with a big bezel either.
The typical computer package comes with a CPU unit, keyboard, mouse, and speaker set. That may be just fine for some, but most people require more than that especially in today's "connected" society.
Today's users require full multimedia capabilities, a wide range of graphics tools, and accommodations for the various portables we now enjoy.
These extras aren't included with "what comes out of the box," and the only way to get them is to accessorize, like adding a HD display with a TV tuner :-)
Dermot
Spam, BE GONE!
What a very strange angle to photograph that from. It makes it look like one of the 21:9 TVs.
yeah the shot made me click the product link just to check if its an ultra wide (21:9) screen.
and if you think that girl is sexy (which is not), you better check out akihabaranews's "asian babe fight of the week". i'm not endorsing it or anything its just that their girls make the one pictured above look dull and old.
Resolution, DPI?
I have been waiting for this bad boy to come out of hiding, because it would be great addition for a xbox/ps3/pc display. I must say this looks like a pretty sweet monitor/t.v.
Cool..
I like model.
even with heavy makeup, that model kinda looks old to me.
Yeah, that's sex appeal all right.
Rubbish! The resolution is 1920 x 1080 - the same as my 24" Samsung monitor.

I need a new monitor
It'll clean off eventually.
DO NOT WANT: Apple has shown the way forward for PC displays - 27" models should have 2560x1440 resoution. Why the hell aren't Samsung releasing a screen using one of those panels and LED backlighting? Screw TV tuners, give us resolution.
I'm pretty sure Apple will be offering something similar in the not so distant future. After all, it's been nearly 1000-days since they updated the cold-war 30-inch display. A convergence between the desktop display and the Apple TV just seems logical to me.

Dan
oh really ? I wonder how it fits in your pants without busting them........
mine's also 27inches....and im not talking about tv size
I don't understand this "sex appeal" thing. Is the HDMI port in the shape of a vagina, or does the remote double as a dildo? I detest the use of the phrase "sex appeal" to describe non-erotica electronica.
Yes thanks Engadge for suggesting that us Gadget lovers want to have sex with TVs - sorry but if you say its got sex appeal, thats what you're suggesting.
Quite clearly the only sex appeal is quite definitely coming from that hot young asian model.
.
Anyway - On topic - Engadget peeps, do you remember a clear indication from industry insiders that if a TV is below 32" or even 37" in size then its pointless to make it 1080p capable? I heard it from so many journo types about a year or two ago, thought it was total crap then, and look now at how many 27" sets are 1080p, or even WUXGA!
Remind me never to believe another Journo type again. Thanks.
The idea is that the TV is part of a lifestyle involving girls hanging out with it, holding remotes but apparently not planning to use it to switch channel but to lure you over instead.
Would you buy a TV that reminds you of your granny? See, image matters.
Oh and actually, would hot girls hang out with guys that have TV's that reminds them of their granny? See it's even based on reality.
I'm so glad they're giving work to the children of famine-stricken Asian countries. Oh, the TV? Meh, big woop.
Could also be that they got her there to distract from the 70's chair in the back :)
What? That retro chair looks pretty cool to me. The throwback of the old mixed with the new is very much in. Maybe that's why us older guys always try to seek out a younger model.
Regards,
Dan
Well I admit this time the retro isn't so bad, and with a touch of japan it's OK.
In other words, this "monitor" is just a TV.
F#$% the TV how much for the girl?
sucky-sucky fow five dolla
Didn't we just have a long conversation about her?
http://www.engadget.com/2009/11/05/samsungs-tango-robot-vacuum-uses-cameras-to-clean-your-floors/
Not that's she's not worth discussing. Much more interesting than the monitor....
Make sure to get the model in the frame, even if the TV is photographed from an extreme angle.
I always wondered why they made the arms in "Final Fantasy: The spirits within" so abnormally long. No I know...they used this gal for a model.
I thought that female model was a robot at first...
