Fujitsu's splitting F-04B cellphone gets tested, found to contain no Energon cubes
Sometimes you want a phone with a physical keyboard. Sometimes you want one that fits in the back pocket of your skinny jeans. And sometimes, when you're feeling really crazy, you want one with a pico projector. Impossible dream? Not if you're Fujitsu, who have made official the bizarre splitting F-04B first showed as a prototype last year, and AkihabaraNews has managed a hands-on. Both the touchscreen and keyboard portions operate independently and connect via Bluetooth, as does the 854 x 480 projector that can clip on in place of the keyboard. Overall impressions are good, the phone said to be a bit too bulky with the keyboard attached but quite fit with just the screen, and though that LCD didn't get high marks for responsiveness, the 12.2 megapixel camera did. If you're looking for price or release info you're out of luck, but we'd advise against getting any hopes up. We know, it's hard.

only commenting FIRST because i'm in the process of pulling an all nighter for a micro computer graphics test
And yet you still have nothing relevent to add to the article.
Sorry, but I predict failure.
They're calling it The Homer.
The one on the left looks like a bottle opener..
I was thinking the same thing, this must be a spec they left out by accident.
If it is...sold!
does this phone has a bottle opener as well?
...Really?...
More phones should have bottle openers, I'd love an alky-phone, that's exactly the image I like to give off!!!
Perhaps they should go the whole hog and release a premium version could come with a built in cork screw!
So would the keyboard and screen each require separate power sources?
No, the keyboard operates on magic.
*wouldn't
It would be awesome if the keyboard was powered by the user's key presses.
This will be awesome with my new Optoma screen-in-a-bag!
Great......
They forgot to mention it was built by magical little elves. This is crazy technology. I hope we get similar devices in the U.S next year.
Deja vu:

I'm having a hard time understanding what I'm looking at.
Yes, yes, that's what she said, I know.
I get that feeling with most of Fujitsus stuff.. "this is not a laptop, it's crap... but.. it's still a laptop!" *gaah*
Nice form factor. Make the keyboard wireless tho so it can still work whilst detached from the camera (maybe as a remote for ur pico projector) that'd be handy, the battery on the wireless keyboard can charge when it's plugged back into the phone.
Nice idea, just make sure you put a good OS on it fujitsu.
Also, scrap the slide-out numeric keypad - it seems to be making up for most of the bulk of the removable keyboard unit.
If they got rid of the can opener hole, there would be room to put the numeric keyboard next to the QWERTY (aka, OQO style). So they wouldn't need the slider.
I have a hard enough time just keeping track of my cellphone... if I had one of those, I would lose the keyboard... only to find it a week later in the bottom of the laundry machine.
looks like the SE X10.
12 megapixel! Poor America, we can never catch up, our sad smartphones are just now at the 3 megapixel stanges
Most people dont actually need 12 megapixels, because remember megapixels decide the resolution of an image. (hence pixel..) The camera lens determines the quality of the camera.
