GSM Palm Pre bound for Mexico, coming to Telcel on November 27th
Remember that FCC filing for a GSM-loving North American Palm Pre? Looks like the mystery's been solved, Encyclopedia Brown, and our culprit is just south of the border. As previously rumored, Mexico's Telcel will get the Pre, SIM card slot and all. Launch date is November 27th, just in time for the US to be thankful for an online community ready to unlock and import this stateside.

We weren't interested because it's exclusive to Sprint. If Palm released it Verizon the story would have been different. That ship has sailed though with the advent of the Droid. Goodbye Palm.
It wont do 3G on TMobile.
Of course, TMobile has crappy 3G coverage anyway so it doesn't matter.
And so does AT&T, for that matter.
Feliz Navidad Mexico
Olé!
maybe by then, the GSM version will be shipping with at least 1.2... unacceptable that we still have 1.1.3 here in the U.K.
Ay dios mio
Palm is going to roll out 1.3.1 to all phones by the end of the month, apparently.
Anyone know if these units will be 3G capable? The QWERTZ-keyboard Pres you can import from Germany (for a cool $710, mind you) are only Edge.
Regardless, I'll be checking eBay pretty soon after the launch.
Pretty sure it will be 3G since Telcel doesn't have EDGE.
my mistake, telcel has edge also but they been promoting 3G plans on everything for years, so it' wouldn't surprise me this will run on 3g only.
what about the pixi? little late mexico

Well, when you are surrounded by rediculously Lucious and hot Mexican women, you dont really have interest in standing in 12 hour lines to get the latest Mac or i7...
Anyone know what fequency they run on TELCEL? Really been waiting for this to happen so i can get it for canada GSM.
That's what I was looking at. Bell and Telus finally have HSPA up and running and I need a GSM phone in the near future as I'm taking off to Europe. Wouldn't mind travelling with one of these...
850/1900 UMTS
850/900/1800/1900 GSM
850/1900 UMTS 3G (Bands 2 and 5)

I'm going home(Mexico) for Christmas.. accepting PayPal orders starting in 3..2...1
If you are serious and won't gouge me too badly, I'm in for one. Be gentle.
Let me get there first.. I have to make sure Telcel wont tie me down to a contract or something like that..
How would we contact each other? Do they (Telus) typically offer full price phones (out of contract) like they do here in the US?
...Mexican Oreos anyone?
Ignorant comment of the day, specially when lots of US software gets done there...
I think Telcel runs 850 Mhz 3G, 1900 Mhz for EDGE, I clocked in about 2.5 mbps this last July I went.

Found this online - isn't that the same as AT&T? If so, would I be stuck with telephono 'en espanol or could I change the language?
