Police Wii Bowling team issued stern rebuke
You know, policing can be a tiresome, thankless task -- that's why we weren't all that surprised when Polk County's finest were caught on camera at the scene of a Florida drug raid engaging in a reported nine hour Wii Sports tourney. As you'll recall, investigators raided a home back in March on the lookout for drugs and stolen items -- which they found, along with weapons and that infamous Nintendo game console. Fans of police accountability will be pleased to note that when all is said and done, eleven members of the multiagency task force were eventually disciplined with a letter in their permanent records and a couple hours of re-training. According to Polk County sheriff's Chief of Staff Gary Hester, all of those involved "were all remorseful, upset with themselves, [and] apologetic," except one officer who finally bowled a perfect game: "It was totally worth it. The Dude abides."

F the police!
Right F the police until you need them right. Douche bag
If my neighbors were armed, I wouldn't need them.
I live in Little Italy, so my neighbors probably *are* armed.
If you've ever been to Polk County, FL... then you'd understand why they were there for 9 hours. There is nothing there and nothing to do.
Nothing to do except drugs and Wii sports, that is.
Zioncat you are Anti-American..
When someone breaks into your house you call the policw AFTER you have made sure that the assailants are DEAD DEAD EAD!!!
That way your story will stick and there is no one to sue you!
Remember when someone breaks into your house everything you to to them is nice and LEGAL especially when you kill them.
If you've ever lived in Polk County Florida, you'll know that the police here do nothing to solve crime unless it helps their paycheck. Other wise, your just paperwork. I live in Winter Haven, where we are one of only 3 cities with a police force that hasn't been taken over by George W JR, i mean, Mr. Grady Judd.
@ Name: in addition to being a douche bag your obviously not that smart. Me Anti-American go blow it out your a**
I agree with Name, your an idiot zioncat. F the police. They have never done anything to help me. Every even when I had a gun to my head by some illegal immigrants the cop looked at me and the idiots with the gun and kept going. F them all. I don't need them thats why I have a CCW (concealed weapons license). If everyone had a gun (and weren't so tight a$$ about them) no one would get robbed or assaulted. The morons (who actually steal and assault people) would be too afraid to doing anything to the general public from fear of being shot.
Back to the story. This just proves to me more that the people in power should get more than a slap on the wrist for the same things we get slapped on the wrist for. If it was anyone else they would have gotten trespassing and various other crimes on top of that. Cops, judges, presidents, etc (anyone with even the smallest power) should get the worst punishment, no exceptions, for their crimes/ misdoings. By showing us they get off Scott Free for this it just going to make someone else do it and expect to get the same slap on the wrist. For example, if a cop abuses his/her power, he no longer gets to be a cop and possibly jail time. Regardless of what he or she did. Abuse is abuse and if it isn't stopped from the beginning it will just continue. They didn't stop when they got caught they just learned to be better at not getting caught. No more cop posts!!!! PLEASE!!!!! My blood pressure is going up.
"If everyone had a gun (and weren't so tight a$$ about them) no one would get robbed or assaulted."
LOL! Quote of the year.
Polk County is nothin but open country, id rather play Wii than go back to work and be bored all day
@Brdystyls
All you white people, aka illegal immigrants need to go back to whatever protestant cottage you came from and stay there. I'm sick and tired of some white person telling ME that I need to go back to MY country.
Jared, I concur. Wii > Counting Cattle
So many people say fk the police but If I was a cop and I just busted some piece of shit drug dealing criminal, I'd celebrate too by playing his console. They didn't pocket his drug money, they played the Wii.
You people (I said you people) need to get some perspective.
Bravo to those cops. \m/
Its all about high scores.
Like the hat
The Dude points out that your hat is crooked, while Walter wants you to stop being a nihilist.
Just shut the f*** up Donny!

Our tax dollars hard at work...
I rather pay them to exercise playing wii than sit on their ass in their cop cars trying to catch me speeding.
This is the same Sheriff's organization that shot a perp 68 times. And the Sheriff said the only reason they didn't shoot him more was because they ran out of bullets.
That's my kind of cops. Work hard, play hard, shoot hard.
Screamin' 187 on a ....
wait, what did they do wrong? :b
exactly.
Waste Polk County's tax dollars.
Actually; what they did wrong was not search thoroughly enough. They missed the friggin' camera for Christ'sake!
Should have just taken some of the meth, sold it, and bought Wii's all around.
Wasted opportunity.
Heck, they should have taken all the meth, and bowled until their hearts exploded.
"eventually disciplined with a letter in their permanent records and a couple hours of re-training"
Guys you didn't bowl very well at Wii Sports so we're gonna re-train you on how to bowl a perfect game
lol
Your out of your element...
Clearly, spelling isn't your element.
"11 of Polk County's finest caught on camera playing Wii bowling and disciplined for their actions. Thousands of people in an uproar, commenting on various electronic news sources. 98.6% of comments from paid employees scouring the internet during normal work hours." (including this commenter)
98.6 eh? Well, at least they don't have a fever.
The only thing they were completely remorseful of is getting caught.
True but Nine hours!!! i'm surprised someone didnt raid the fridget for beer and chips.
THAT is what people get upset about?

I remember seeing another documentary about this sort of thing.
Doesn't it piss you off and scare the shit outta you at the same time.
Does the re-training involve any Wii Bowling?
Training is probably on how to thoroughly check for any incriminating evidence. Like that webcam that was recording
Is this the same permanent record from elementary school?
Yes. When your teacher said permanent, she meant permanent.
I don't see why they got in trouble for this.
This is not 'nam, there are rules!
way too many times i've seen police abuse them sirens just to run red lights and get to dunkin doughnuts faster.
Did anyone read the article? Engadget included? Engadget says here:
http://www.engadget.com/2009/09/23/video-drug-raid-turns-into-9-hour-wii-bowl-a-thon/
that they played the wii for 9 hours, but if you read the article that they linked to:
http://www2.tbo.com/content/2009/sep/21/undercover-drug-investigators-embarrass-polk-sheri/
it says the following in two separate paragraphs:
"...3 detectives and three sergeants spent nine hours searching Difalco's property..."
"Task force members played the video game at various times during the day, for a total of a little over an hour of playing time. "
9 hours of searching != 9 hours of wii time
Hey, could you guys see wii fit boards being used for airport security? it could happen sooner that we all think
