Mobinnova Beam Tegra smartbook hits the FCC en route to AT&T
Looks like AT&T will be launching at least two smartbooks at CES -- the Tegra-powered Mobinnova Beam just hit the FCC database with a device ID of BEAMATT. Yeah, that's not so subtle. Sadly the listing doesn't have much else to say about the machine formerly known as élan, but we're guessing we'll find out way more about what AT&T's got planned for these not-quite-netbooks in Vegas.

They really take their label measurements seriously...
I suppose there are lower limits on how small the font can be; otherwise there'd be no point in requiring labels.
("What font is this? It's so tiny." "Enron Beelzebub.")
Contracted Netbooks just seems like a bad idea... Just get a USB stick/ mini wifi router, or better yet tether an unlocked phone if you want 3G- then you can use it with any computer you want. Plus, a netbook, unlike a phone, really needs 3G coverage, so AT&T's coverage would SUCK for this application.
it must suck for Qualcomm for the category they started to be invaded by nVIDIA
Mobinova was doing so well just by virtue of having tegra... way to take a step back though by going solely with an AT&T data plan. Was eyeing it, (Arm style platform I've never had before interests me) now I just might have to look away...
I heard about this actually having the capacity to transport one individual to alpha centauri. call me crazy, but i don't think it has THAT much power
