I agree that OTA has its issues. I've been saying for a long time OTA needs to work while traveling by foot, bike, car, train, or boat. I can forgive it not working on a plane.
In order for me to be ok with not receiving OTA anymore I must receive and equivalent service free for life. Free basic HD cable from the provider of my choice with no restrictions on switching. However, the service must not require me to use provider owned equipment. Also, the provider must not be allowed to collect, retain, or use my personal information for any purpose. Basically, I want a gov run website where I log in, select my provider, hit ok. The website orders the providers equipment to connect to the feed at my house. A minute later the video signals are electronically switched and I'm watching TV. If I decide four minutes later to switch providers I just log in, switch, and the process repeats. Additonally, channels would be standardized. For example, ABC is always channel 1 or something. That way, reguardless of provider my TV/PC channel list is always right.
Alternatively, I'd be satisfied with 75% off my state & federal taxes for life. OTA is king. I will never pay for TV in my life.
What's up with the devotion to DVRs guys? Haven't you figured out DVRs are dead? The future is any content, anytime, anywhere, via streaming.
Following the commercial success (and technical disappointment) of the original Wildfire -- which featured a miserly 528MHz CPU and QVGA display -- HTC has returned with the Wildfire S.
