iPhone app debuts for plastic surgery enthusiasts

Dear reader, we think you're beautiful. We really do. But we hear you've got a "friend" who's been considering some nip / tuck action. Luckily there is now an iPhone app that will let him or her not only peruse the handiwork of a certain Steven M. Denenberg, M.D., of Omaha Nebraska, but it will put your friend in touch with him for a consult, if desired. Providing an important service? That's debatable. Worth the 99 cent price of admission? Probably not. PR after the break.
Now There's an App for People Interested in Plastic Surgery
OMAHA, Neb., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- An intuitive new iPhone application, developed by facial plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Denenberg, allows you to view hundreds of before-and-after photos, turn your iPhone around to take your own photos, and with the touch of a button, email them to the doctor with your questions - like a free online consultation - all while sipping your latte.
"The iPhone app is the next powerful communication tool," Dr. Denenberg said. "Just as most plastic surgeons now have Web sites, soon most will realize the value of using this new technology to describe their practices, display their skills, and give patients easy ways to contact them. With Apple on track to have 60 million iPhones sold by the end of 2009, and 120 million by the end of 2010, doctors can't ignore the importance of adding an iPhone app to their practices."
Dr. Denenberg's iPhone app is available by searching the App Store for "Denenberg" or going to http://www.App33.com, which contains a video of the app in operation, screenshots and instructions for using the app, and a link to the iTunes App Store to download the app. The app runs on the iPhone and on the iPod touch.
Dr. Denenberg is a facial plastic surgeon trained at Harvard and Stanford. Double board certified and in practice since 1985, Dr. Denenberg has been listed as one of America's Top Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. every year since 2004. He attracts an international clientele with patients from over 50 countries. Dr. Denenberg's Web site, http://www.FacialSurgery.com, is one of the most-visited plastic surgery sites on the Web, and has been recognized in Vogue and W magazines.
Dr. Denenberg has also started a company to develop iPhone applications for plastic surgeons, cosmetic dentists, or anyone whose practice could benefit from showing their photographs to patients.

Seriously?
... and the app count keeps rising!
As long as there are suckers out there that buy crap apps like this, people will keep making the and Apple will keep approving them!
That's a sl-app in the face for real developers
must be a slow news day....
Seriously? Do all Apple apps look alike?
Unfortunately all the apps thrown together in a couple of days, using the basic templates, do all look the same.
@Jim, not if they get plastic surgery
Of course, there's an app for that. There's an app for everything in the App Store. Only iPhone haters see 100,000 fart apps.
this app is not representative of omaha. :(
Yes because people should EVER get plastic surgery in Nebraska...
And that is because? Oh wait, you probably think everybody in Nebraska lives in covered wagons. Nice show of ignorance.
Or, maybe people from Nebraska don't want to play with fake boobs and other nasty, altered parts of the body.
...or maybe he's being sarcastic, dipshit
Yes,
Because the assumption that Nebraska is a backwoods state is common for assholes.
Nebraska does happen to have one of the largest companies based from Omaha. A little company called Berkshire Hathaway with the most expensive stock on the NYSE.
OR maybe......nah I got nothin'
Actually Steven Denenberg is pretty renowned across the country. Case in point: While I lived in Chicago my ex had her boobs done by him, over the throngs of plastic surgeons in the Chi. The top-tier Dr's in Chicago have 6 month waiting lists, and Dr Denenberg could get it done in a month. He was recommended by several Drs there.
Still don't think this app merits an Engadget post though...
They don't call it Counciltucky for nothing...
this is the app I need for my facebook profile
Does this really warrant a post?
There once was a time when Engadget said that they didnt so software post because this was a gadget site. But I suppose iPhone gets a special exception...again.
I'm hoping Apple will approve my new app. when you open it up, it takes you back the homescreen again. Now you can click in and go back, click in and go back. It's endless fun!
As long as that app doesn't duplicate a core function of the OS, use Mac icons, or has private API's...then you're a-okay
Look_Around_You: You're right. The iPhone is a special exception. Engadget has never, ever done any articles on software ever before.
Oh wait, looky here. They only allow you to post 3 URLS, but I'm trying to make a point here.

There are more - a lot more - but hopefully this got my point across. If not, then you may actually be stupid beyond help.
@Jack
A post about a new operating system is one thing, but a post about an App for plastic surgery is a little different.
Why you only choose Win7 posts and not any Snow Leopard posts in your list is neither here nor there.
GhettoBanjo - Look_Around_You's complaint was that Engadget said they don't do articles on software, and that the iPhone is a "special exception". So unless you are prepared to explain how Windows 7 is not software, you should probably just agree with me and leave it at that. I could add Snow Leopard posts too, but that would only go even further into proving that Look_Around_You is an idiot, since Snow Leopard is also software.
You did see the part where he said Engadget only makes exceptions in their "no software" rules for the iPhone, right?
Either way Jack, I'm still downranking you for effectively spamming the comment system and being an arrogant douche at that. (And yes I know this is in a sense spam but it's what everybody is thinking anyway)
Downrank me all you want, you dumbass. Keep supporting idiotic comments like this: "There once was a time when Engadget said that they didnt so software post because this was a gadget site. But I suppose iPhone gets a special exception...again."
Please continue to support the idea that the iPhone gets "special exceptions" because Engadget doesn't do software posts when that clearly isn't true. Just remember that when you downrank me rather than providing a counter argument, that means you are unable to counter anything I've said. So I see every downrank as proof that I've once again made a bulletproof point that nobody can counter.
I do think it's funny that people will actually support intensely stupid comments like the quoted one above simply because I'm pointing out how stupid it is. Instead of, you know, looking at it and realizing how dumb it is to say something like that.
Thanks for the support!
Why?
Because iPhone users are more likely to be vain douche bags with too much money than other people.
Hey JB:
http://download.cnet.com/Virtual-Plastic-Surgery-Software-VPSS/3000-2192_4-10850334.html
So I guess Windows users must be vain douche bags with too much money than other people. Especially since the Windows software costs 30 bucks while the iPhone app costs 99 cents.
Wow....
And these are the apps that add onto the 100,000 count.
Don't forge the 'lite' editions of the same apps bumping that figure up.
You have the lite, demo, full, extra, pro, super pro, super pro with limited edition collectible online figurine.
SMH
@iDavey
And those are just for there first edition
The second edition will be even more "power packed" with awesome exclusive features. All for a modest price of $99.99 plus a dock at the cost of $159 +tax.
(disclaimer: only usable on iPhone 5GS X)
I wonder if the 5, 10, 15, 25, 50, 100, 1000 (and so on) "points" downloads are counted too. Stuff like iMob respect points.
The hypocrisy here is sad, it really is. Why don't I hear you guys complaining about all the crap Windows applications out there? There are FAR more of them than there are iPhone apps. Aren't you equally as outraged about that?
No really, don't bother. Your double standards amuse me. It's terrible for the iPhone to have by far the most apps out of any mobile platform, but it's fantastic for Windows to have the same thing on the desktop platform. Do you want me to find thousands of absolutely terrible, horrible Windows applications to prove my point, or do you think you can take care of that on your own?
Nobody approves Windows apps. It's an open development platform. But since Apple has to approve any app on the iPhone, of course they're going to take a little heat for the quality of the apps.
But only the best junk apps will make the cut! Apple wants a quality experience when you download a really crappy app you will only use one time.
Oh I see. So now your point is that because Apple approves apps and Microsoft doesn't, that somehow negates the fact that there are hundreds and hundreds of thousands of absolutely horrible applications for Windows?
Isn't the poor quality of some apps what you were complaining about? Why aren't you complaining about that exact same thing on the Windows side? You do understand that nobody is forcing you to buy bad apps for the iPhone, right? And that there are also a lot of really good apps for the iPhone?
What exactly are you complaining about? The fact that Apple approves them has nothing to do with anything, much in the same way that Microsoft NOT approving them has nothing to do with anything. Just like Microsoft, Apple is trying to make the most apps available that they can. There is a serious double standard going on here:
Either it's ok to have a lot of apps for your platform, including bad ones, or it isn't. Which is it? Pick one.
LOL......
Nice idea, male a LOL app..
you push it and is displays LOL
add to the 100,000 app count.
Could apple be an App whore?
@Name dough for the right price ihoes always open there legs
This just shows how Engadget is getting worse and worse by the day.
engadget "articles" are getting to be as shitty as iphone apps
Pah Engadget, fuck this app. Did you know there is an app on the appstore that simulates the sound of flatulence?
How cool is that!
Did you know there was an app to show you where all of the sex offenders in your area were?
There is.
Only 2 Apps are needed..
1) iBust increase
2) iManhood increase
And thus I have solved most problems in the world.
don't forget the butt, people would be signing up all over to get a new iAss.
Yes. Give my girl an iPhone and the iAssiNcrease. I'll be a happy man!
Is there an app that tracks how many pointless posts for apps there are on Engadget? We get that you love Apple, but is this obsequiousness to all things Apple really necessary?
No, but there is an app to block obnoxious Apple-haters that complain every time Engadget talks about Apple in a positive light.
[Lowest Ranked]
lol. iiiiiironyyyyy
Very cool! See, another reason not to buy the Droid.
(sarcasm mode off)
This sounds cool. Seriously, i too need it on facebook.
Highest CD Rates
Isn't plastic surgery just give you the same functionality with improved UI. thus count as duplicate of functionality and should be rejected?!
all these anti-engadet comments are getting really f**king boring , if you don't like the look of the article then don't read it .. instead of wining about it .. why not make a comment that's actually interesting or different to read.>?
"that will let him or her not only peruse the handiwork of a certain Steven M. Denenberg"
I wonder how his patients feel about their personal body parts being perused by "App"le idiots.
Now all I need is a scalpel and then I can open for business...
Y'know, you'd think this sort of thing would be more sensibly done with a Web site. Is there something wrong with the iPhone's browser that makes that infeasible?
Considering Mobile Safari passes the Acid3 test with 100% compatibility, I'd have to say no. Your question is basically the same thing as asking why apps are better than web pages. And to that, I have only one response.
Seriously?
Yes, seriously. I don't download a separate app for every business I want to deal with on my desktop; I use a browser. Why should the iPhone be different?
You really don't know why anybody would want to use an actual application instead of a web page? Wow. I'm sure you could go to their web site and contact them that way if you really want to, but the point of apps is that they provide more functionality than web pages do. You're acting like an app and a web page do the same thing. And if that's the case, why isn't Photoshop a web app?
if all you want to do is contact them, then sure. Go to their web site, tap their phone number and call them. Obviously the app provides more functionality than that. If you don't care about that, that's fine, but it should be pretty obvious why some things are done as apps and not web sites.
I'd like to conduct some plastic surgery on the phone itself.
wow...
Wow. More crap apps on the phone with the least-est.
Oh well. At least they get to raise that number of apps so they can advertize with it.
reminds me of the old McD's 1 billion served sign.
Who the hell is going to spend $ 0.99 on an app that is basically an ad for this nip/tuck guy?
Wanna chop your face open? Wanna stuff bags of silcone in your chest?
There's an App for that.
