iPhone app debuts for plastic surgery enthusiasts

Dear reader, we think you're beautiful. We really do. But we hear you've got a "friend" who's been considering some nip / tuck action. Luckily there is now an iPhone app that will let him or her not only peruse the handiwork of a certain Steven M. Denenberg, M.D., of Omaha Nebraska, but it will put your friend in touch with him for a consult, if desired. Providing an important service? That's debatable. Worth the 99 cent price of admission? Probably not. PR after the break.
Now There's an App for People Interested in Plastic Surgery
OMAHA, Neb., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- An intuitive new iPhone application, developed by facial plastic surgeon Dr. Steven Denenberg, allows you to view hundreds of before-and-after photos, turn your iPhone around to take your own photos, and with the touch of a button, email them to the doctor with your questions - like a free online consultation - all while sipping your latte.
"The iPhone app is the next powerful communication tool," Dr. Denenberg said. "Just as most plastic surgeons now have Web sites, soon most will realize the value of using this new technology to describe their practices, display their skills, and give patients easy ways to contact them. With Apple on track to have 60 million iPhones sold by the end of 2009, and 120 million by the end of 2010, doctors can't ignore the importance of adding an iPhone app to their practices."
Dr. Denenberg's iPhone app is available by searching the App Store for "Denenberg" or going to http://www.App33.com, which contains a video of the app in operation, screenshots and instructions for using the app, and a link to the iTunes App Store to download the app. The app runs on the iPhone and on the iPod touch.
Dr. Denenberg is a facial plastic surgeon trained at Harvard and Stanford. Double board certified and in practice since 1985, Dr. Denenberg has been listed as one of America's Top Doctors by Castle Connolly Medical Ltd. every year since 2004. He attracts an international clientele with patients from over 50 countries. Dr. Denenberg's Web site, http://www.FacialSurgery.com, is one of the most-visited plastic surgery sites on the Web, and has been recognized in Vogue and W magazines.
Dr. Denenberg has also started a company to develop iPhone applications for plastic surgeons, cosmetic dentists, or anyone whose practice could benefit from showing their photographs to patients.

Is there an app that tracks how many pointless posts for apps there are on Engadget? We get that you love Apple, but is this obsequiousness to all things Apple really necessary?
No, but there is an app to block obnoxious Apple-haters that complain every time Engadget talks about Apple in a positive light.

lol. iiiiiironyyyyy
Very cool! See, another reason not to buy the Droid.
(sarcasm mode off)

Isn't plastic surgery just give you the same functionality with improved UI. thus count as duplicate of functionality and should be rejected?!
all these anti-engadet comments are getting really f**king boring , if you don't like the look of the article then don't read it .. instead of wining about it .. why not make a comment that's actually interesting or different to read.>?
"that will let him or her not only peruse the handiwork of a certain Steven M. Denenberg"
I wonder how his patients feel about their personal body parts being perused by "App"le idiots.
Now all I need is a scalpel and then I can open for business...
Y'know, you'd think this sort of thing would be more sensibly done with a Web site. Is there something wrong with the iPhone's browser that makes that infeasible?
Considering Mobile Safari passes the Acid3 test with 100% compatibility, I'd have to say no. Your question is basically the same thing as asking why apps are better than web pages. And to that, I have only one response.
Seriously?
Yes, seriously. I don't download a separate app for every business I want to deal with on my desktop; I use a browser. Why should the iPhone be different?
You really don't know why anybody would want to use an actual application instead of a web page? Wow. I'm sure you could go to their web site and contact them that way if you really want to, but the point of apps is that they provide more functionality than web pages do. You're acting like an app and a web page do the same thing. And if that's the case, why isn't Photoshop a web app?
if all you want to do is contact them, then sure. Go to their web site, tap their phone number and call them. Obviously the app provides more functionality than that. If you don't care about that, that's fine, but it should be pretty obvious why some things are done as apps and not web sites.
I'd like to conduct some plastic surgery on the phone itself.
wow...
Wow. More crap apps on the phone with the least-est.
Oh well. At least they get to raise that number of apps so they can advertize with it.
reminds me of the old McD's 1 billion served sign.
Who the hell is going to spend $ 0.99 on an app that is basically an ad for this nip/tuck guy?
Wanna chop your face open? Wanna stuff bags of silcone in your chest?
There's an App for that.
