Nokia E72 in stores now, somewhere
Amazon's US pre-order site hasn't heard the news yet nor has Nokia USA's on-line store. Nevertheless, Nokia assures us that the E72 is "in stores now" and should cost €350 (as announced) before taxes and carrier subsidies are applied. Remember, this S60-powered followup to the much loved E71 sports a new 5 megapixel autofocus camera, 3.5-mm headphone jack, microSD slot (4GB included in the box), A-GPS and integrated compass, 10.2Mbps HSDPA, and new optical navigation pad right where a thumb would like it. The E72 also packs the latest version of Ovi Maps and Nokia Messaging with homescreen access to your IM accounts. Now scram buster and let us know if your pre-orders have been filled -- this baby's not going to unbox itself.

I want it, now!
Not so many improvement over the e63 btu slimmer design and better camera are always nice.
Yeah, too bad it's much more expensive than the e63.
(proud e63 owner)
I hate the fact that it has such a tiny space bar, like the e63. I've been using the E71 for over 9 months now and I really don't feel like I need two more keys, one of them for Bluetooth. E71's keyboard is perfect, period.
This thing is Slimmer than the Pixi.
I have the E71, but I don't really see the need to upgrade. However, the E72 fixes the few idiosyncrasies the E71 has: abysmal camera, no compass, and the 2.5mm headset jack. I'd buy this on a whim if I didn't have the E71, but I wish the E72 had the white/chrome style the E71 had.
@ HotDog:
Hey, I used to think that the camera on the E71 absolutely blew as well, until I realized that the camera does not auto-focus.
In order to focus the camera and get rid of all the blurryness, press and hold the letter "T" button on the keyboard. Since this discovery, the camera takes much better pictures! Ofcourse, it is still not at good as some of the multimedia phones out there, but it certainly improves it substantially.
Hope this trick helps you, since I've met a lot of people that didn't know about it.
Also, pardon my ignorance, but what is the use for a physical compass? The new Ovi Maps application has a digital compass built in, based on your GPS coordinates.
Come on nokia, you are supposed to be doing the N900 today.
It is already shipping, learn to do a google search.
Whatever Nokia is smoking, they should stop now...
The phone is not available ANYWHERE in the EU:
http://geizhals.at/eu/a438738.html
I have been waiting and waiting for this phone to hit the market. They keep pushing the date back. First it was week 43, now some are saying week 47.
Oh and about the N900? Forget it: http://geizhals.at/eu/a457621.html
Nokia NEVER does a hard launch. Always soft launches and I hate them for it...
VG: That is pure BS. It's on the store shelves here in Finland.
Incredible hardware (I own an E71 which I love) let down by a dated and cumbersome OS :(
Outdated UI, rather. The OS is still more functional than pretty much everything out there.
At least the OS can handle push e-mail without completely killing the battery. Some of its rivals can't...
I have an e71 as well. I like symbian OS. you can pretty much do anything you want with it (unlike other un-named OS). UI maybe could use a little optimization but even so... I don't think is as bad as people claim.
I don't think it's an OS issue, but a software availability issue. I know there are an infinite number of Sybmian apps out there, but the Ovi Store hasn't done a very good job of collecting them, or encouraging more development. I have an E71, and I love it. Unfortunately, any apps I can get are either buggy to the point of being unusable, or they don't have any function that I'm interested in.
It may be an outdated OS for a touch phone, but s60 is perfect for the E71 and i'm sure it's just as good on the E72
Yup. Its a pretty bad OS, but at least its open, and my E71 is an absolute champ with reception, sound quality, and battery life, which are all super important to me. And with $10/mo data (AT&T), its a pretty cheap phone too.
It is available now in Sweden, and two of the three local resellers that I visited have the Zodium Black one in stock available for immediate delivery.
Well, Finland is in the EU and E72 is available now - see https://www.smartit.fi/NOKIA_E72_NAVIGATION_ZODIUM_BLACK - the page says there are 100 units in store. Obviously this is the finnish version with å, ä, ö but nevertheless, available :-)
Good luck with the N900 as well - just got email that delivery is delayed :(
No reasons for the delay? o_0
The best got better.
Waiting for the qwerty showdown: Nokia E72 vs BB Bold 9700
I own E71. But now I dont like it. Because you need to click lot to open or close anything. It also doesnt have animated icons. Screen is so small for touch phone days. It was the phone with top features when I bought it. I always liked/like to buy Xpeira 1, Satio, and X10. But these days, Sony Ericsson release phones with some disabilities like Windows Mobile in Xperia 1, slugissh Symbian and resistive screen in Satio and no multi-touch (currently) and just 65000 px in X10. Those T610 days never come back for Sony Ericsson :(
I got my Nokia e72 yesterday from Nokia Store in Regent Street, London. They told me that the phone has been available since 13/11.
The phone is very nice, but I already found some issues with it.
The battery meter keeps showing its charging even when I disconnect from the charger;
Next to the home and the mail button (edges), the LEDs are exposed, it doesnt looks nice. Also, its a LED just between the home and the call button. I dont know if its with all the handsets, but its very anoying.
But, in averall, the phone is very cool!
Blackberry Connect?
I don't think Nokia offer blackberry connect anymore
I just saw one in the Nokia store in Central Hong Kong today.
I like the design and Zodium Black. but it's incredibly slow to access ovi services in china mainland.
Are Nokia's Ovi services even worth using?
For HK it translate to HKD 1100 (approx 150 USD) premium over E71... do you think it worth it consider E71 is already one of the qwerty phone out there
It's certainly available now as I have one sitting on my desk courtesy of Vodafone UK!
Singapore already sells the E72 starts from the previous weekend. They sell it at SGD749 without contract.
This one is the photo I took from SingTel shop :

I was so looking fwd to dumping my iPhone and getting this!
Reading the reviews, I see it has some issues.
Also, if anyone can tell me if the keyboard has gotten any better since the E71? Only keyboard I ever really liked was the Bold's...so it's either the 9700 or this.
I like my E63 but I would not pay more than 200€ for a Symbian device.
the question is, will it be subsidized in the US? cuz there's no way im paying 500+ when i can get a 9700 for 200. just not that worth it and too much hype!
Also available in Australia, right now: http://uniquemobiles.com.au/Items/e72blk?&caSKU=e72blk&caTitle=Nokia%20E72%20-%20Black%20%28Australian%20Stock%29
Is it made of plastic or metal like E71?
I hope E72 build quality is better than the awful E55 I have (fully made of plastic).
Well it ain't available in Germany and Austria that's for sure.
Release just got pushed back to Week 48...If we are lucky we will see this phone before christmas around here...
And the wait continues...
