Xero's eBoard Neo skateboard is battery-powered, gun-controlled
It may not be the first electric skateboard, or the fastest, or the least skateboard-like, but Xero's new eBoard Neo is controlled by a gun, and that's got to count for something. In addition to attracting attention from the law, this board will propel you along with ease at 14 miles per hour, hit 0 to 20 (kilometers, presumably) in just four seconds, and last for around 13.5 miles on a single charge -- a complete recharge will take three to four hours. At £220 (or just over $360), however, this one doesn't exactly come cheap, although you can also snag the slightly less speedy (and gun-less) eBoard Junior or eBoard Flow for £120 and £150, respectively, or step up to the heavy duty eBoard Pro for £250.

Guns and skating. Totally safe.
The worst part about skateboarding is telling your parents your gay.
what about my gay?
Skateboarding is not a crime... Until now.
Punk kid on skateboard pointing a gun at me = you gettin' shot son.
you rite son you rite
@Ducman69
I must agree, to me it just looks like a compact pistol. I guess they could have painted the end orange but there goes style..
This is totally going on the top of my christmas list!
Yea and get shot cus you're carrying a gun.
hey do you want to stand, and move, and not get exercise? yes?!
actually, i would guess the knee-bending and balancing is still a workout..
@Brian
You take your logic elsewhere sir.
At least the wheels are orange tipped. . . .
Engadget boards like these have been out for literally 5+ years, exkate and many more brands, just google electric skateboard... did Xero pay you or something?
Yeah, I agree. My friend has had one of these (battery operated, speed controlled via a gun-like hand controller like the one in the photo) since 1999 or thereabouts. What are you giving us?
@Ari Mannis Yup, this is years too late
Ok, this is just asking to get shot by an officer.
This is a dumb post. My electric Dewey Weber 48" from e-glide uses a gun to control it and I have had it for almost 4 years now.
FAIL.
...And you haven't been shot at or bothered by police? Impressive.
kk, did engadget go down at 10 oclock pst, or am i crazy, something happend for a few moments there
@tech head - your're right. Something's up - they're revamping the site right now, as far as I can tell:
"What's Next Is Coming Now. Stay Close."
Certain links and pages not working all of a sudden...
Looks like the stuff Josh has been talking up the last few days is finally happening...
This will be a Christmas present for people I don't like.
note: may or may not be a double post, getting 404 errors every other page. what's wrong Engadget?
Well the comment system is working as well as it was before. It's the new minimalist web style.
@matt I wrote this when It was still broken. The new look is pretty nice.
@matt
New site looks pretty good.
At least the ads are up
Hmm does it has GSK bearings I wonder.. I'd only touch it if it has GSK bearings... Looks cool.. but can it get you up a wet slope?
testing out engadget's comment system
I want this thing, if for no other reason than to say I have an RC skateboard.. lol
Now you can do Skate bys. Every body hit the D-E-C-K!
I can see a few 'dudes' getting shot on this mean machine downtown NYC!
So nobody is upset that this skate board is imposing gun-control on us? 2nd Ammendment!
Some friends of mine the year before me in electrical engineering, a few years back, did this exact same thing for their senior project. It worked pretty good too. It was made more for off-roading style skateboarding though as it had large trucks and large treaded wheels.
I see it now - some cop sees a kid on this thing coming at him and 16 rounds later...
The only way to improve this is to have a controller shaped like a machete.
