Motorola Motus specs leaked, headed for AT&T?
Slowly but surely, the Motorola Motus is coming into focus -- sort of. Hot on the heels of that super blurry shot we saw yesterday, BGR has some specs for the mid-range Android set, which seem to indicate this one's not much more than an AT&T-oriented variant of the Cliq: 850 / 1900 / 2100MHz 7.2Mbps HSDPA, 3.1-inch capacitive 480 x 320 display, microSD expansion, MOTOBLUR, and a Qualcomm MSM 7201A CPU, which will undoubtedly be clocked at 528MHz. Unfortunately, there's no word on what version of Android is on this thing, but we've got the sinking feeling it'll be 1.6, given the last-gen hardware and Blur UI. Not the most impressive first Android set for AT&T -- let's hope there's a better surprise in store.

I like the Tilt and the CLIQ resemblance.
THIS is how the iPhone SHOULD look like
Absolutely. I would consider getting one if it had a keyboard like this.
@zackn87
...Look like in somebody's Bizarro nightmare. The iPhone looks the way it does for a purpose. Not some kludged piece of junk.
@N900 he Motus has quad-band GSM connectivity and – weird enough – it looks like it also supports the 850/900/1700/1900/2100 MHz WCDMA bands, which means that both AT&T and T-Mobile could launch it.

528MHz?
That would be...unfortunate.
How does that thing slide out?
@michael It looks like a flip phone that's put together backwards. When it's closed, the screen and the keyboard are both on the outside.
@CtrlBurn Erm that be a new way of doing found this
"Design-wise the handset gets a reverse flip keyboard and a rear directional touchpad adding serious weight to CellPassion's speculation it could launch as the "Backflip" a name recently registered in the EU by Motorola."

I'm just gonna quote one of my own comments from august 25th:
"please no more qualcomm 528 mhz crap, it has been done to death"
I'm waiting for Motorola to design a decent keyboard.
have you used a cliq? It's keyboard it actually, quite good, day night diff compared to a G1 or Moment. It's slider mechanism is IMO better than the droid.
Unfortunately it has Blur with 1.6 and no camera flash--no thanks.
Why in god's name are almost all pictures of unreleased tech look like it was photographed by the same person that took all of those Lochnes monster and bigfoot pictures?
@aaroncortelyou His name is Mr Blurry Cam and he is the official photographer of all leaked tech shots. He is doing quite well for himself, if you look back through the archives you will see plenty of his work. I think he might be the son or nephew of the guy who did the Lock Ness shots.
@aaroncortelyou
Photo was probably taken on a Droid! Zing!
But no really I want a droid bad.
I'm guessing there's an app for that?
Mr Blurrycam strikes again
I'm guessing it features the Blur OS...
Wow, MOTOFAIL! Not is this the most pathetic excuse for an iPhone clone, it's also just FUGLY. Flat keypads = FAIL, just look at the droid. Motorola, just go die. Nobody wants your shitty ass phones anymore. You were hated after the RAZR-epidemic, you're hated now.
No, it's not the picture that is blurry. It's actually the phone.
What, its called MOTOBLUR, heard?
LOL
Unrelated, but where is the HD2 review guys?
@X-BLADE
Seriously! What the hell is taking so long.
I'm starting to think that whoever takes these pictures are actually getting permission from the companies, as long as they're hella blurry...seriously, even my crappy HTC Pure camera can take a better photo.
That said, Android + AT&T is always good, and no D-Pad means larger keys that my gorilla thumbs may actually be able to use...
Is it just me or does this look awful, sound like it has awful specs, and have way to big of a bezel? I mean, after the awesome but not perfect droid, this would be such a letdown, why woul they do it? And don't say budget smartphone, because I don't care how cheap it is upfront, people who really want budget won't buy it because ur still paying $1600-3000 over the course of two years, for which you could get a midrange gaming PC, or a MBP. The only room for a budget smartphone is something that's cheap(
Lost me at MOTOBLUR.
SPOILER:
It will be overshadowed by the iPhone and never get so much as a single advertisement.
It looks like a mix of Nokia E75 and iPhone.
I’m thinking this is going to target Latin America, Canada, and Europe not AT&T...
If you look at the specs posted on Android and Me (which posted the story last night), there could also be T-Mobile and Euro-only variants in the works.
I'm thinking this is a HTC-sort of move (TouchPro[2], for example) with a spec sheet spanning multiple models, depending on market.
Mennnn..talk about Mr. Blurry Cam's progeny
WTF? With so many cameras with image stabilization, and cellphones with auto-focus, blurry shots like this are beyond silly.
I don't think its that bad, my guess is it will be cheap and might be time for me to upgrade from the unlocked G1 I am using with att, at least I could use 3g if I ever get near a 3g area.........
hell i'll take the G1 when you're done with it. i really want Android but unfortunately AT&T has me pretty locked in and all their phones suck. looks like an unlocked Hero is my only real option as of now.
i think that a certain phone that begins with an i and ends with a phone is getting very, very, nervous
iPhone with a keyboard, I hope the inside be diferent
Wait a second. Android on AT&T? *Now* I've seen everything.
Really though, I was hoping for the Motus to be a mid-range Android set on *Verizon*, not AT&T, as an alternative to the $300 before rebate Droid. I want a keyboard (so no Eris), which means I might have to wait until the Calgary finally gets an official reveal.
Get used to the fact that any Android handset that is based on custom "facing"(MotoBlur, Sense, TouchWiz, etc) are ALWAYS going to be behind the curve, because it is "not about the OS" it is about their version of an "experience."
Personally (and I feel like I am alone on this most days), I think Android is just fine Out of the Box as is. WinMo 6.1 NEEDED something to make it palateable, Android doesn't, and with all the widgets that are available (and more coming every day), why lock yourself into these custom UIs?
You want SENSE? Then be prepared to wait and be behind the upgrade curve... perpetually.
As for this particular phone and it being on at&t... no surprise. Every Android phone that has even been rumored for at&t has been a mid to lower end device, so there is no risk that something even accidentally be compared with the JesusPhone.
Looks like Mr. Blurrycam has a serious drug or alcohol problem at this point.
Mr. Blurrycam— for god sake— it doesn't have to be this way— GET HELP!

Does anyone else notice a few interesting things about that horrific keyboard? Namely, the 5-way D-pad is now an odd and terribly arranged arrow button combination and based on the way it looks I wouldn't be surprised if that keyboard was capacitive, not physical (but I could be crazy). That would give them a little savings on thickness, wouldn't it? Also, how far does the LCD slide? If it was any further I swear it would be detached. Sadly for me (because I'm on AT&T) this may be the only cure in the near future for my insatiable android fanboy woes.
