Hopefully the next versions of Windows and Windows Server will be just 64-bit. It's already been 8 years since Microsoft released Windows XP, their first 64-bit OS.

It´s pretty much overdue. Especially since even XP64 already had pretty good support for 32 bit legacy apps.
Windows 2008 R2 is 64 bit only came out not to long ago
They announced a while back that windows 7 is the last x86 OS.
Even server 2008 r2 is strictly 64 bit now so looks like they've already started moving in that direction.
maybe it's their first 128bit os...
