Nintendo DSi LL set loose in Japan
Feels nice when a company keeps its promises, doesn't it? Nintendo said it'd have the newly bulked up DSi LL out in Japan for November 21, and shockingly enough that's exactly what's happened. Eager Japanese upgraders have today gotten their mitts on the 4.2-inch (both screens, of course) device, while similarly inclined European and American Nintendo lovers are once again left to envy from afar. Their helping of jumbo DSi, to be known as the XL, will be showing up some time in the first quarter of 2010, long after bragging rights and gift-giving holiday occasions have passed. We're not sure whether to consider it consolation or cruelty, but you'll find a gallery containing close-ups of the new machine at the read link.

Thanks, I'll just keep my first gen DS.. It works fine, no need to upgrade especially when the guts aren't even really changing all that much.
Oddly enough, I actually kinda like it now. The silver sides on it were definitely unexpected, and it's so shiny!
I'd like to get that burgundy one.
My DS Lite broke a few months back and I was thinking about replacing it with a DSi. I might as well wait for this thing to come out, since I consider the regular DS Lite to be too large to carry around town anyway. If I'm just playing it around the house, I might as well have a big screen, right?
>El Gigante DS
>No GBA slot
Yeah, fuck this shit.
Just to remind people, it's not glossy, that's just a stupid plastic film that hasn't been peeled off!
Back in the old days, I knew people who'd never take it off XD Nowadays we have a nice, developed screen protector industry though...
I love it! I fucking want it.
Looks nice. I just wish it had the GBA slot.
how is 'Want To Write For Engadget' related to this post? lmao.
Interesting read, the originating link. "DS Lite Hi up 93 percent and sing the big screen, and produced a sense of luxury body treatment baking sheet mirror"? I'm sold!
Oh... and Engadget, Times New Roman? Seriously?
Times New Roman in italics... eek!
What's the resolution on the big 4.2 inch screens .. if they kept the same resolution or it wasn't WVGA or better it would look horrible.
QVGA, right? At any rate, I agree. The resolution on the Lite looked bad enough. I guess people are just going to have to put up with lego-for-pixels.
I'll get one.....looks sweet
If the language can be changed on this, Ill just have my friends in Japan hook me up. Does anyone know if it can?
Ask your friends in Japan and report back! ^^
It's an awesome moment in a company's history when they can release a BIGGER version of handheld device and generate such a stir from it. Normally, everything gets smaller. Kudos to Nintendo!
Well thats just Nintendo laughing at their loyal customers by making their dsi seem worse, by making a regular update reminds me of someone iwonder who that is.
Some people would take the bigger screen and not care about the pixels. But for me, objectively the DS Lite is already pretty low pixel density so a bigger screen wouldn't help; plus for a mobile device small size counts.
well I am on the fence about this I want it but there is probably a ds 2 coming out in a year or two.
I want to a few things:
*Can I change the language and if so will US games work on it.
*Will my old games look horrible
*specs
*why didn't nintendo put the GBA slot back
pardon my grammar I missed a know.
Ooooh that is a tasty piece of kit ... maybe a bigger screen will help me get past that "L Block Trash puzzle" in Professor Layton!
They really should've went with DS-L, I so would've enjoyed that.
Same resolution on a bigger screen?
Prepare for a blockier Zelda Choo choo train
