There's a decent chance you North Americans in attendance won't ever see the likes of
AOpen's XC Mini GP7A-HD, but for those in places where having a say on what innards are shoved into their next nettop (we're lookin' at you, Japan), this mini PC is apposite to fill quite the void. Boasting only a small frame, NVIDIA's
Ion graphics technology and space for a multicard reader, it's up to the buyer to slap in a Core 2 Duo processor, up to 4GB of RAM, a 2.5-inch HDD or SSD and a DVD burner or Blu-ray drive. You'll also find six USB 2.0 sockets, an HDMI port and a VGA output, and while gigabit Ethernet is included, it looks as if the WiFi module is on you. Mum's the word on pricing, but we're guessing it'll be as close to nothing as NVIDIA will allow.
Chances of landing in the UK?
Considering play.com already stock Aopen products, i'd say quite high.

Why unverified Engadget? I have a username!
Have you logged in and confirmed it?
How bizarre, it said as I was commenting 'You’re commenting as Rebajas.'...
Oh well, cheers for the tip :)
Very tempting as the basis for a media centre machine.
Was thinking exactly the same thing, though I thought I'd wait for a price to materialise before I committed that comment to the Intarwebs... :)
BTW, liking the new site; however, serif for print, sans for screen...
Odds it could go Hackintosh?
Like the new site, and how replies are clearly laid out under each post. However, clicking to view replies is unnecessary.
On topic, hmm.... I think I'd take a Dell Hybrid. But nice nonetheless.
Unverified? I have a username!
ahh dude that sucks you dont even get credit for what you say
You need to sign out, then sign in again and pick a username.
Nettops are never going to make it in the us because theyll be overpriced and nobody will even compare them to the power of dektops for the same price
I dunno about the US but I think people in the UK will be happy to buy a small, reasonably powerful machine they can connect to their TV - something that won't dominate their lounge.
The less it looks like a computer the better...
yeah i guess but itll probably be priced around $800 for some thing like that and then you can just get a touchscreen and hide the dektop or you can get a laptop for that price
And even better if the power usage is low enough they can leave it on most of the time...
This is exactly what I want. I like nettops, but Atoms are too puny to drive most things at 1080p with any sort of speed. Toss in an inexpensive, cool-running Celeron E3200 and all this is solved.
did you use google to translate this? Because it has that "English spoken by someone who doesn't speak English" feal about it...
why still no edit or delete? WTF engadget?
And the font is killing me.
I have a bad fealing about your english.....
If it isn't on an Atom chipset then it isn't ION it's just a 9400m.
Just stick with 9400m and leave the marketing speak in the brochure
Or 9300M, in this case...
This ~Times New Roman is scary and pushing me into Gizmodo's loving arms.
I learned a new word today!
ap⋅po⋅site [ap-uh-zit, uh-poz-it]
–adjective
suitable; well-adapted; pertinent; relevant; apt: an apposite answer.
Never seen that one before...
this looked like a nice box until i tried to buy one.
can't seem to get it shipped for under $400.
once i add in cpu, drives and memory - unless i need blu-ray - a mini's a better deal.
no built-in IR with power on function ... fail
