So you think that major product releases just happen to come within weeks of a competitor releasing something new? If AMD releases a new chip or chip feature and Intel counters within days or weeks with a new product that Intel made up that new feature in the time frame or rushed something that was no where near production out the door? I guarantee you companies will sit on something if they have a new product in the pipe that they don't need to release yet. If you are dominating a market, why waste your ace in the hole. If you think your competitor is going to release something soon that will come close to or surpass your current offerings. Then when they do you still their thunder by smacking them back down a peg or two right after they launch their product.
Its hard to argue that Intel is dominating the netbook CPU market, there isn't a whole lot of incentive for them to push the envelope in that market.
"I'm a college student looking for a new laptop, but almost all of my media I receive digitally. I'm looking for a laptop, not a netbook, without an optical drive, and budget sensitive. The optical drive will just be a waste of space, when I can have thinner laptop. What's out there?"
