Microsoft opens PC lounge in Saks Fifth Avenue for holiday season
We all know Microsoft's feeling pretty smug -- and with good reason -- about Windows 7 right now. In an effort to drum up yet more hype for its latest OS, and perhaps to try and gauge customer interest in an East coast Store, Microsoft has decided to open up a cozy "PC lounge" inside Saks Fifth Avenue's flagship New York store -- you know, the one that actually is on Fifth Avenue. As part of the agreement, Windows 7 will be used to drive Saks' window displays, and opportunities will be provided for customers to interact with the new software throughout the building. The lounge itself will be populated by Windows 7 laptops and Microsoft experts, who'll probably answer your questions in the sort of overly peppy, commercial way that makes us wonder why anyone goes to offline shops in the first place.

@Chris Murphy Don't kid yourself.....if Apple put up something like this the Windows Fanboys would be all over it too. Two way street.
@Khris I 100% agree. Thats my point. MS didn't think this through. Instead of holiday wishes, it's just going to be a Mac/PC fanboy war.
@Chris Murphy Sorry, my post should have been @daaper :)
@Khris
I'm not kidding myself, I know they would...but the post still did a great job of summing up how many feel about Apple.
Boss. can we rob it like the Apple store before?
Shouldnt this be in Saks 7th Avenue?
@Bort Simpson
That's either gone right over my head or you've imagined a boutique.
@Ethan
I assume windows 7=> 7th ave
Oh my god I mean how stupid is this. The irony is people are that thick, WOW Windows chill out zone ala bullshit.
Windows Vista + 7 = SHIT
XP ROCKS
@Diesel1313
Ahahaha, hahahaha, hahaha.
Oh god, you're a funny guy.
@Diesel1313 XP is a dumb as ROCKS
Well said
Man, iGadget has all but ran off all the PC folk. Oh well, if that's what they were going for.

It wasn't Engadget, as much as it was the iTards, frothingly attacking anyone not gobbling Jobs' Knob. See above.
@jon
There seems to be an equal amount of anti Apple comments as there are pro Apple throughout Engadget. You want to see attacking, take a look at any comment that is pro Apple, and how fast it is downranked or negatively replied to.
The problem is Apple's smarmy attack ads are suggesting to it's base that it's ok to act like that IRL.
I've never posted anything on this board I wouldn't say to someones face.
How many of Engadget's mac faithful can say the same?
@jon
I can honestly raise my hand. I called one of my friends the biggest.. something.. in the universe for shouting "get a mac" while another friend was discussing virus issues he was having. He's not a fanboy though, just crazy.
@jon
How do you know anything about anyone that comments here? I think your problem, along with many others is that you have built an image of Mac users (and whoever else) in your mind to all be a stereotype of the coffee house hipster who knows nothing about computers and only cares about image. How sad that your mind is that closed, that millions of users to you all fall into that archetype - only because you yourself do not use Macs. It would suit you well in life to grow out of that mindset. You have no idea what anyone would say, we are all anonymous here & false bravado, including yours, is rampant.
@jon, all I see in these Engadget comments are a very high volume of people suffering with what I've diagnosed as S-MSF-RS (commonly known as, Severe MS Fanboy Reta'rdation Syndrome). One major symptom involves attacking anyone who dares speak positively of Apple or speak negatively of Microsoft.
@Joao Cagao
Truthfully what's sad is, you're actually doing exactly what you claim I'm doing.
Read my posts, I didn't say anything about mac users, I am talking about the retards who post on this site evangelizing apple, and attacking anyone else.
In fact I know two kinds of mac user, one owns his own webdev company and switched to mac, to expand his client base. The rest are exactly the kind of pretentious failed actors and writers who take their MBP's to starbucks so people can watch them work on their latest abortion.
I make judgments based on people's actions, and statements. Not their views or possessions, maybe you should do the same.
@Joao Cagao
Actually what's sad is you can't open your own mind enough to read my post.
I said nothing about mac users, I'm talking about the backbirths who evangelize apple on this site.
Why are you so defensive?
@jon
Engadget reply system fail.
@cherryboom Dude, what the fuck are you babbling about?
@CapnHowdy
The things you did to that cute nurse from ER were appalling.
That Windows logo looks very Apple-esque. I don't see these WIndows stores becoming very successful, but time will tell.
@Joao Cagao Are you serious dude?, Using negative space on a logo was not apples invention. Please get off the apple sauce.

@(Unverified) What are you talking about "negative space"? The logo is raised with lighting behind it.
Typically the Windows logo is colored, not simply four white panels and I can completely see why there is a comparison to the white Apple logo.
The only "sauce" here is whatever you've been drinking.
@(Unverified) Are you serious dude? I can't find any comment in this thread about anyone saying that Apple invented negative space on a logo. Only you that is. I suggest you put down the Microsoft Marijuana and get a reality check, you might be suffering from S-MSF-RS (commonly known as, Severe MS Fanboy Reta'rdation Syndrome).
@Joao Cagao
That was my first thought, hope this works out for ms.
@cherryboom
Paragraphs are your friend.
What they really need is to have free WiFi for the Lounge area so all the shoppers could sit down and relax.
@(Unverified) so what should the store policy be if some one sits down to use the Wi Fi with a Mac?
@Poop Chef Don't forget Prozac. this guy is batshit insane.
@jon
She enjoyed it
Ugh, I wish it were its own store, but it's better than nothing. I was wondering if we could still call NY the greatest city in the world without one of these.
I guess I have to fight through the damn tourists and holiday shoppers to get a peek at it
lets just hope these things dont BSOD unless there's some sorta monitoring that it went offline or something. kinda empbarassing if it was left bsod'ed unatteded.
Dude I would tolly hang out in there with my starbucks coffee and windows laptop! Then get a couple friends and play SC because I'm that classy
Microsoft store on 5th avenue? pshaw, let's see how many millions in losses this store is going to generate. It will probably close in less than a year max.
I don't want to comment out of fear for somebody calling me a fanboy and downranking me to "oblivion"...
speaking of that, I'm gonna go play that game.
