Adamo XPS hands-on impressions
You might've seen the Adamo XPS cameo on this month's Engadget Show, or viewed our unboxing, but in case you're averse to the long form, really want to dive deep, or perhaps just use some other trite phrase to describe yourself, we've done an in-depth video hands-on with the world's slimmest laptop. The verdict? Well, it's a well-made machine with a significant issue of a price to performance imbalance. Check out the video after the break to see if all this sexiness can win you over.

Is it just me or cou;ld have dell moved that hinge down easily and solve this whole strange hand position issue.
However sayingg this i don't know how balance would suffer by this decision
Seriously who was the camera guy? Zooming in on random things and everything was out of focus.
The video ... is....uhhh...a bit... like.....uuhhh......uummmm...rough?
What a piece of junk. It's a purely overpriced, underpowered, form-over-function pile of rubbish. But I guess it doesn't matter since it's got a Dell logo and therefore gets a free pass.
@(Unverified) "But I guess it doesn't matter since it's got a Dell logo and therefore gets a free pass."
Dude, that's too stupid. Stupider than all that "It has an Apple logo on it so we should care" foop. Get, off, soapbox.
This machine is fashion over function. It’s one thing to see the beauty in good engineering or have form as a function but this has neither.
While ultra-lights have their place, even if they are niche, the MacBook Air, HP Envy and original Dell Adamo are worlds better than the Adamo XPS. It’s slower, while being less comfortable, with a smaller battery and higher price tag.
Outside of looking cool for a Sci-Fi movie this machine has no redeeming factors in the real world. Personally, I love the original Adamo.
Am I the only person that doesn't think this computer even looks that good? I know the internet will probably say yes, but I really think it doesn't look sexy at all.
Is this guy drunk or what? Cannot stand listening to this brainless wushwush. Man if you have a serious hangover, please got to bed instead bothering others with jerky videos.
By the way, this lappy looks realy nice. Maybe performance is not the one thing potential customers are looking for.
He should have shown us where is stalls at as far as HD video 1080p ? 720? Wish he'd played some quicktime trailers.
2 hours battery life?
eh, whats the point.
Maybe with arrandale ulv it would be better. Since coupons wont work with these laptops, I wonder if we will get bing cashback. I would consider one at ~ 1200 with arrandale ulv and 250GB ssd.
This one needs a revolutionary battery technology to make it viable. It needs at least 8-10 hours to be taken seriously.
Get that man a tripod.
it looks so scary on the lap and he instinctively hunched his knees upward to try to keep it from falling.
DOF is great and all but this isn't a Spielberg blockbuster - its a gadget review. Lets opt for the standard camcorder on these reviews so we can see everything in focus PLEASE!
The angle of the keyboard seems backwards for preventing wrist injuries. I think you want your wrists not bent up all, and maybe even down if possible. I remember seeing cashiers in Costco actually tilt their boards down AWAY from them to avoid carpal tunnel.
i don't mind that it's impractical or convoluted. or the fact that that it costs an outrageous amount of money. it's a beautiful machine. if you're gonna build a halo machine take one note from the auto industry: it's gotta perform. granted the auto industry is pretty awful, but that's one thing they still get. the viper, the z06, the ford gt... impractical, convoluted, expensive, beautiful machines all of 'em. you can't take the engine out of a civic and drop it in a gallardo, and say "hey, look what we're capable of!" that kinda thing just doesn't harbor brand loyalty. er, unless you're apple.
Is there any practicality in this?
Sure could use this.
nice
Happy Birthday
I kill the rock.
pshhhhhhhhhhhhhh
my macbook air may be slightly thicker BUT
-its 10x sexier
-its a MAC
-my keyboard lights up
-LEGIT multitouch trackpad from the people that do it best
-doesnt have some stupid ergo-stand
-screen doesnt ripple from behind.
when it comes down to it, the adamo XPS is a PC, and all PC's are inferior and just want to be macs. yes i am biased, but realistically its just an expensive attack on the macbook air. dont make me laugh
lol... big surprise... he likes the keyboard
3 kids...Money is in short supply...just send it thanks
Wow, it's beautiful!
WOOOW....INSANELY THIN!!
Dear Engadget,
can you guys fix your video stream? Since design change I was able to see just one video on your site. "Loading video informations" makes me a sad Panda.
Thanks.
@Emil
What's interesting: direct URI works

This guy must have just come in from a drinking binge when he did this video. Well at least I hope he doesn't look and talk like that all the time. And how can he not no what market this is for. This site has a preference for a company whose demographic this laptop is marketed for.
Besides of the crappy video...
Those engineers whom design the Adamo... did not see any of us late night, commenting on Engadget...!!!
Rather have the Air........
