Roomba saves child from deadly Viper, challenges Tango to a fight

We've always known that the Roomba was something of a bad-ass -- iRobot, after all, has quite a reputation within the defense industry -- so we weren't surprised when one of the autonomous vacuum cleaners took down a certain Vipera palaestinae (a venomous snake found in the Middle East). Considered a leading cause of snakebites within its geographic range, the snake was found mangled 'round one of the robot's rotating brushes when Eli and Efi Frida returned to their home in Galilee, which they share with their two children, aged four and seven (as well as several cats and dogs). "We were very lucky," said Eli, "If the snake would have hid in the house and bitten one of the children it could have ended badly."

Look it's going after the cat!!
@CPhotographer
lol
@CPhotographer
The cat is next.
@o TINY o
It has tasted blood. Its thirst will be unstoppable.
It expected a decidedly more awesome story considering the title...
@(Unverified) agreed
@(Unverified) I second that sentiment
@(Unverified)
the decidedly more awsome, somewhat embellished version WILL be told in about 200 years by this roombas great great grandson-bot.
"...there were seven giant serpents and all great grandpa Roomba had was.."
@(Unverified) It puts the lotion in the basket.
Snake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Snake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Eternity mushroom, mushroom!
@av8or
He was killed by Roomba Gear not poison mushrooms.
@Eternity +1 for Metal Gear Solid reference

@(Unverified) you are clearly missing the referrence.
here let this help you: http://www.badgerbadgerbadger.com/
@rcberg3

@Eternity I changed my mind, call me Plissken
HIP HIP HOOORAY...Roomba!!!
I got to get a Roomba, and hack, hack, hack it
So my self powered electric mini bike can autonomously perform perimeter patrol.

in41!
Good reason to equip Roomba a laser gun. It's smart enough to hunt deadly animals.
What about Scooba?
We're doomed... it's tasted blood!

Skynet has become self aware. =[
It's very normal for islamic culture to leave children unattended, and not do the raising thing like they do in the west.
And I know now some brits and such will call me a racist or some such silly nonsense (note that even if it was false and hateful it would not be against a race but a religion) , but it's a documented fact and you can observe it yourself, and the various EU governments have taken innitiatives based on these facts and observations done.
Different folks have different strokes.
@Wwhat
Oops they were israeli orthodox it seems, excuse my mistake.
I'm not sure how the orthodox do it, I know they have the women stay at home and often have tens of kids and hire nannies, if they got the money, but apart from that I don't know.
Not that you can't be bitten by a snake with the parents 2 feet away of course.
@Wwhat Grrrrr it wouldn't be Islamic culture, it would be Palestinian/Israeli/Libyan/Whateveren culture. Culture does not equate to religion or vice versa.
Am I the only one that's immediately surprised that these parents left their children in the house unsupervised?
@(Unverified) they didn't leave the children unattended as far as anyone can tell from reading. They said if the snake had hidden and then bitten one of the children. I took it to mean later.
@(Unverified) Good point. I just assumed they left the children unsupervised because it said 'when Eli and Efi Frida returned to their home in Galilee', mentioning that the parents returned to their home but not mentioning the children. My bad.
Maybe they'll get lucky and now it'll eat some of those cat.
@(Unverified)
what? lmfao
@WeirdHero
well, they did do the best they could not to write the word "Israel"...
@WeirdHero yolu sure think highly of the Msulim world.
My only intention was to warn Engadget from stepping on a political land mine.
Please, don't start a flame war.
@WeirdHero
Comments were going well till YOU started the flame war.
@(Unverified) 'zactly. Your comment could be taken quite the wrong way. Better to have not said anything.
I wonder if the roomba went Jackson before the incident "Enough is Enough I have had it with these Mother F***ing snakes in this Mother F**ing House" haha
Opps forgot an * there we go@(Unverified)
como esta?
@AndroidRokz estoybien
@AndroidRokz
Quit talking to yourself in another language. We all know you can speak English. Besides, Spanish isn't even local to that region.
That's why whenever I leave the house, I just leave my pistol on top of my Roomba. It'll know what to do when the time's right...assuming its activated ;-)
I would love a vacuum that cleans for me. however, My 24 Lbs Maine Coon cat would destroy one of these things, Unless it managed to get a hold of his tail sending him hiding under the bed for days.
Proof of Asimov's first Law of Robotics.
BeBop Cola!!!!!
i thought they only using brooms and ak-47s in the middle east
Now that's one heck of a vacuum sweeper!
...and Roomba said, "Enough is enough! I have had it with these motherf*ckin' snakes in this motherfuck*n' house!"
@Red Rover
Nice placement of asterisk on that last 'motherf*ckin'
They can afford/sell Roombas in the middle east?
