I think I'll wait for the KIRF DealExtreme version!
@JoepvL
S30V is the only reason to get this. The KIRF most certainly wont be S30V, which is in the top 3 hardest commercially-viable steels.
@bhsx
When it becomes available on DE - I can purchase 50 of them for the price of one of these, if it breaks, I'll go to the drawer and grab another. $50 is outrageous.
am i on the home depot forums again?
@From My Cube Definitely.
@From My Cube Yeah Engadget, are you leaving out the part about this thing being wifi connected?
Just kidding ya'll, this tool actually looks pretty sweet. I've been using a combo of my Leatherman Squirt and a datatel-centric Swiss Army Knife (not sure what model- I got it for free from a telephone vendor.) Only thing is I have to be sure to leave them at home when flying, etc. Dang knife...
But will it blend?
@Teka
No.
@Teka
really this has already come back in style?
@monkeyontherun4
Try it! We would love to see it!
-The MK7 Design Team
@Teka Seriously? Please quite with the Crysis, blend etc. it's really dumb and god forbid DONE!
$50? Naah, i'm feeling lucky with my christmas crackers this year.
First, this is a total rip on Peter Atwood's pocket tools. Second, that domain name has only been registered since the 18th. The company supposedly behind it ("MK7 DESIGNS LLC") doesn't appear to exist, except on the LinkedIn profile of someone who claims to be a co-founder of a VC firm that's only made a website for sharing drinking games (both of which have had their domains registered since June). It could all be true... but giving money up for a pre-order seems like a bad idea.
@pndmnm
WOW you have taken some time to research this. I though I was bored LOL
@pndmnm Agreed, total rip off of Peter Atwood.
@pndmnm
Seconded, such an obvious Atwood ripoff... There have been others, but damn looks like they took some notes with this one finish and detailing-wise. Though the end result still looks like way more of a mess than any design the man himself would go forward with.
@pndmnm
I'm glad I wasn't the only one to notice this right away. No research needed on this :) Atwood makes some sweet tools and this is nothing more than a cheap ripoff
busted knuckle city - here I come!
$49? Pfft.
uhm... i might get it....
http://bit.ly/4rDX8V, not just a glorified bottle opener, and the $10 extra bit kit is well worth the money if you mountain bike or do other outdoor sports.
If it had some hex bits and a cable cutter, it would be a nice bike tool. But it doesn't, so it isn't.
@pndmnm
Hello!
Thank you all for your interest in our new Piranha Pocket tool! We are very excited about this product and have had an incredibly positive response!
We appreciate feedback so don't hesitate!
-The MK7 Design Team
@MK7
Have you integrated the tool into your drinking games yet?
Dinosaur's head, eh? You know what else it looks kinda like? I piranha.
Oh, hey!
@(Unverified) er, "A piranha"
Looks pretty interesting... wonder whether it's nice to use...
Nevertheless I favor the following as pocket tool...

Though I must admit it's pretty pricey in the US...
KIRF Atwood tools here we come. I wonder if this one is shoddy quality like other copy-cat products.
@jkotrub
Hi jkotrub,
I understand your concern regarding product quality and must say that any tool MK7 produces will be of equal or higher quality to that of an Atwood tool. We in no way are attempting to copy Atwood but rather bring a tool to mass market (rather than being somewhat of a collector's item). Our Piranha is designed, manufactured, and built to current aerospace specifications (as we also work in the aerospace industry). Costs are kept low (at $49 ea rather than $70+ ea as Atwood is priced) through Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies and batch quantities are not a problem as we offer tools when you would like them. . . no more waiting!
I hope this helps to alleviate any concerns regarding our new product!
Best Regards, The MK7 Team
looks like a really cool .....way to round off bolts and round out screw heads!
I'll pass.
Peter Atwood isn't going to be happy.
He hates these rip offs.
I wouldn't trade in my Gerber multi-plier for it.
A Leatherman has more versatility and usability for less money.
I'll pass.
How much did they pay you to put this ADVERTISEMENT up on your website? Just curious.
You put it in your pocket first. Looks like it might hurt me if I put it in mine.
Can I take it through airport security? I have awesome Gerber and Victorinox gear that never sees the light of day thanks to 9/11.
