HTC 'Touch.B' is an Android-powered Touch2?
If you glance at this thing for just a fleeting instant, you might actually mistake it for a Touch2 -- but it's not. A closer look at the button layout shows a decided lack of keys required by WinMo 6.5, which leads us to the logical conclusion that the so-called Touch.B here -- previously known under the codename "Rome" -- runs Android. MobiFrance doesn't have any additional details on the phone, its specs, or where it might launch, but if it does in fact run on the Google juice, it's looking like a possible successor (or kissing cousin, perhaps) of the Tattoo. Now that we look at it, we're not actually seeing the buttons that'd be required of an Android device, either -- and we have heard rumors for ages now that HTC would be releasing devices running a homegrown dumbphone platform -- but we'll hold off on the conclusion-jumping until we get just a little more detail.

Looks nice but lacks that huge HD2 screen I want for android
@Hydra
Agreed..."Give me more screen real estate or give me death"
@Hydra
Along with lacking that huge screen, it also still lacks a 3.5mm jack
@Hydra
beat me to it...
Ah for a sec I got excited and thought the dragon had finally been announced.
Very interesting , i'm looking forward to see what happens next. :)
BILLY MAYS HERE WHERE'S MY DRAGON!!!
How is this interesting? It will just be another 2-8 inch qvga android device. Completely overpriced compared to the Pulse.
@Sasimi
Aren't all the android phones except the droid HVGA 3.2"?
Sexy
@Bowsa
...agreed. i wouldnt kick this phone outta bed for eating crackers!
I want info on the Dragon or Passion already. Same phone but still nothing on release date or anything. WTF!?
@danlindeman : there is this website http://htcpassion.com/ but dunno if its genuine or not..
"A closer look at the button layout shows a decided lack of keys required by WinMo 6.5, which leads us to the logical conclusion that the so-called Touch.B here"
I would think the giveaway would be the "Touch.B" decal on the back.
@(Unverified)
Might want to finish reading the sentence, quoting half a sentence and saying it doesn't make sense, well, doesn't make sense.
@Imsaffor
"here -- previously known under the codename "Rome" -- runs Android."
Ok now it makes perfect sense.
all roads lead to rome...
"you might actually mistake it for a Touch2"
I wish. Sadly, this looks pitiful.
@acies This looks just like the touch2. Hopefully HTC starts making "B" versions of all their phones. If so that would make the HD2B the Dragon.
Personally, I would be excited for the Touch Pro 3B(android version of a TP3) with sense.
I want an Android based HD2 instead!
@Nitesh Dragon (aka Passion)...
that dead space on the front makes me wanna cry
@artshark seriously... and why is that center button thingie not centered?
@artshark
Yeah, all that wasted space under the screen just looks like crap. How can the company that put out such a beautiful slab as the HD2 design something like this. Unless this is meant for the low-end of the market.
So, this is just HTC Tattoo with a better material/looking body?
Hey guys, I think in some ways, it looks a little bit alike the previously leaked picture of the Dragon ... Hope i am totally wrong. I want that Dragon so much.. but the shape, the curve of this phone and the one in the leaked picture ...
I like the way it looks, what's wrong with all you weirdos? While it is highly unlikely that it will have the same internal grunt as the DROID, it looks far less of an Xbox v1-style brick.
yawn...its bulky and rather ugly. plus no HD2-like screen, come on HTC
It has to be Android. HTC breaks OSes up by style. Android was all chin like until Sprint and Verizon weren't impressed...look at the leaked Dragon/Passion, look at Sprint's Hero...thats the same exact backplate. They won't make WinMO phones look like ANdroid phones...we've been begging for too long and it's fallen on deaf ears.
this thing is UGLY
It doesn't look like an Android device at all. It's missing the required hardware buttons and it doesn't match the same design style that HTC has been nudging into all of its Android handsets so far.
@Chefgon While the front looks a little different (from Android AND WinMo offerings) the back is the same as the Sprint Hero. This is Android, just probably unfinished, like leaks of the original Hero (it didn't have a trackball earlier on).
My favorite part about that the site is when you click to enlarge the pictures, you get the same picture in a bigger window
@StevenW
olololol
Looks kinda like ass...
@(Unverified) Then allow me to be the first to offer my condolences for your partner's rectangular silver anus.
what buttons does android require that this doesnt have? the only thing i see missing is the back arrow, so I am guessing that's all?
these 2.8" screens are going to be the death of us all.
Give it a nice portrait keyboard (I'm envisioning it being done as flipping, but I'm not sure that would work), excellent call quality and wifi, and we might have something here. But I'm pretty sure they'd have to start over for that.
I like the logo placement and scripting on the back. Very industrial :D
@poematik14
My first thought was Star-Trek-ish, but you're right. Industrial is a better way of saying it.
@HardToBelieve Ha! Star Tech-ish! I know what you mean ad agree.
@werty1432k ****Trek****
Stop calling them dumbphones. Their called feature phones. How difficult is that?
I like this touchB model; but the Eris is cleaner and available. I think that this might just be an HTC branded phone without Android or WinMo - just there sense UI on top (looks really low end). How about letting everyone KNOW what the plans are for the Android side. I think we can all agree that an HD2 running Android is the next hot thing - no paris hilton. We are like a deer caught in the headlights, give us some direction HTC!!!!!!!!!
No! we don't want an Android version of the Touch 2, we want an Android version of the HD2!
Design reminds me of the M750 on Metro PCS
Yep HD2 like screen and Android 2.0 is what we want
HTC, give us HD.B !!!
Nice candy bar form factor. Hopefully the touch.b is running on the snap dragon processor. That would be lovely. Android + Snap Dragon + Complete Phone!!!
