Kindle Kradle aims to be to 'holding things' what the Kindle is to paper
We're not entirely certain, but there seems to be at least a decent chance that this is a case of the name coming before the actual product. In any event, the so-called Kindle Kradle is nothing if not ugly unique, and promises to finally get rid of that pesky need to actually hold the Kindle while you use it. As the folks at Wired's Gadget Lab discovered during their hands-on time with the unit, however, the Kradle proved to be somewhat less useful than laying the Kindle flat on a table, and its one seeming advantage (being used as a dock) doesn't exactly live up to its potential since it's apparently a chore to thread the cable through the stand. You can get it in your choice of brown or graphite colors though, and in sizes that'll accommodate the Kindle DX or a variety of Sony Readers as well.

eww
Yeah, ugly does best describe this product... not the Kindle.
@AniMill It's actually just as ugly as the Kindle. They'd look better covered in vomit.
Oooo that's sexy. Looks like beige is becoming the new black.
/sarcasm
Yeah, since it's e-ink, there's no viewing angle problems... no need to prop it up.
Looks like it's made out of cardboard... oh... that's just the color. Still yuck! I think I'll stick to my tried and true method of propping the reader on a pillow.
It would be more useful if it helped you turn the pages a la http://blag.xkcd.com/2009/04/13/the-pursuit-of-laziness/
Pretty pointless really, could they really not engineer some kind of folding adjustable stand that isn't just a huge chunk of plastic ? Nasty indeed.
It's already way less annoying than holding a book open.
I prop my kindle up on one of those paper book things that used to be all the rage .....
I think I speak for everyone when i say wat.
What a ugly piece of crap...
It serves more to slowly warm the planet by its mere production...
Krap is the appropriate term here.
I some times prop up my kindle while I read and eat my lunch at the same time, I generally use a document holder that I use for work, or if I feel extra lazy, I put a pencil under it - which works particularly well with Kindle 1 since it has the awesome grippy strip on the back. I don't understand why anyone would buy something to facilitate this.
Toss me a couple bucks, Amazon, and I'll design one that actually looks good and is highly functional. That's my job. It's what I do.
this seems to be one of the most useless things that has ever been created for a portable media device. pretty pointless.
is it wrong to say ... hospital big ipod holder? they should have a little tray on the side for jello cubes!
sexy design
So if you turn it up it'll neatly snag off the USB port? Strange, but effective.
Kindle's Kute Kradle.
That there is two kinds of ugly. Round these here parts we call that fugly.
As usual, Engadget's not thinking of everybody.
This would be useful to people with problems holding objects, like amputees, people with severe arthritis, quadriplegics, etc.
Yeah, the Kindle can easily be put on anything for hands off reading. I do it all the time at work. This is just junk.
