I saw this at PAX in September. I didn't bother demoing it but it looks pretty cool...
@Co0ki3mon2t3r
Psh...as if WoW players needed to look any cooler :|
"When got tried one on"
@johnwin
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. bit of a grammar fail.
@johnwin Yah. Me thinks Engadget needs more caffeine.
Yeah, nice grammar Engadget. Correct it to:
When I done got tried one on...
When did it the get on the the in it
Just imagine the possibilities... unless there are kids in the room.
"The Power Glove... it's so Raaad!" -The Wizard
@(Unverified) Get it right - http://ugliesttattoos.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/08/Danielle-Powerglove-P.jpg
@(Unverified)
at least get it right "It's so 'B'aad.
@Macbeth & conscious: Haters... I pulled that one from memory. Guess I got too sentimental thinking about the 80s =P
That would be great if they did The Wizard sequel with this. Casting Fred Savage as the main character of course. And he's like old and fat and alone in a gross house with a bunch of computers and computer parts everywhere. Then he would show up to some competition and everyone would be pointing and whispering, "its really him!"
@ppmcdoodles except that fred savage wasn't even the gamer in the wizard...
WOWOWOWOWOWOOWWOWOWOWOWOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
my cousin developed this, he showed it to me over the summer ITS KICK ASS.
@Austin123
No, don't even.
@(Unverified)
honestly hes not my cousin.
its my dads cousing whos marketing it, and its his friend who made it.
i did try it in the summer, and its pretty good, although it was still under developement so some things needed tweaking, but for the most part i think in the months that they had it could be way better than before.
@(Unverified)
He's not lying. My uncle's roommate worked with his Dad's younger half nephew this one time.
It's so bad.
ass
Wow, what a total ripoff of my design, down to the backhand connector.
http://www.engadget.com/2008/07/13/clove-2-typing-glove-leaves-your-other-hand-free-for-high-fives/
@KermMartian
your design looks like ass, their design looks delightful lol. and it's not for typing like yours is lol.
@KermMartian except that this has been in developement since 2003/2004. That would make yours the ripoff.
@KermMartian
Hey, the Clove is pretty cool too. I actually started working on the Peregrine in 2004 but didn't post a thing about it in mainstream media until product announcement at E3 2009 6 months ago. Soooo....yeah....
Of course, mine was a one-off prototype I built in my spare time, theirs is professionally manufactured. Nevertheless, their design contains the same conductive trace patterns and a very similar connection mechanism. By the by, I think your forays into illiteracy erased the knowledge that "lol" is not punctuation. I doubt you laughed aloud at the conclusion of each of your sentences.
@KermMartian
Speaking of illiteracy.. "by the by"
@darkstar107 http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/by_the_by
@KermMartian
Just because they say it in Robin Hood and its on Wiktionary, doesn't mean its proper english.
I wish to Christ at some point the Engadget "editors" would actually start editing.
You're supposed to be a real technology site; with paid writers, editors, a TV show of sorts, a fancy website, newly devised style standards, probably a few interns, a huge following, and fairly significant corporate backing... it's time to expect more than amateurish articles with horrendous editing.
Be more, please!
I love the Peregrine Glove... It is so bad.
this thing is trash.
i cant see a mmo player using it.
@husher don't knock it until you've tried it. It works great for games like world of warcraft and RTS games where you have key shortcuts that you are constantly using. It would also work great for photoshop since the buttoms are programmable.
@darkstar107
i have seen it. i was at pax.
for how much it costs and how basic of design, its robbery. you use your thumb to touch points on your hand to perform actions. i don't think its any better then a gamepad.
I am all for having things just for fun, but for that price that isnt a impulse buy. that is a full blown "this will help your game" title in which i dont think it will own up to.
@husher
That's great that you've seen it. But I've used it for the past 4 years since the first prototype and I know personally how well it works.
@darkstar107
Its funny, as I was reading your comment I couldn't help but feel that I've heard this song and dance before.
Saying that it works doesn't fallow with anything I've said other then the brilliant and well thought out comment I made at the beginning.
The asking price is well beyond the product at hand *pun*.
It's a price that says "If you buy me I'll improve your gaming."
Were you have other products like the belkin n52te game pad that give the same promise for a impulse buy of $75. Give or take due to how long the product has been out on the market. If the company wants to prove that the gamer can make a command at the flash of a green light that the time to make a hand jester were your thumb needs to touch some part of your hand is quicker then pushing a key. I'm all ears; I just hope its $50 quicker.
AVGN is my best
A glove controller... is it that time of the decade again?
Haha you beat us to the real press release, good job Engadget! Release goes out Friday with new picture assets and stuff. To the skeptics I say that this is not for every gamer, but a large portion of them will probably love it, I wouldn't knock it until you've tried it. To the enthusiasts: You guys rock, you will love this thing! :)
I love the Peregrine Glove...it's so bad... (If only I had a whole hour long commercial....uhhhh...movie to promote it)
But can it play Rad Racer for NES??
@frizbplaya
Sure, just get a NES Emulator on your PC, program it to whatever keys you assign, and away you go.
