CompuLab's fit-PC2i is extra tiny, ready for Windows 7
CompuLab has been holding it down on the diminutive front for years now, though the outfit's latest mini PC packs even more features than ever before. Measuring just 4- x 4.5- x 1.05-inches and weighing only 13 ounces, the fit-PC2i is hailed as the planet's smallest dual gigabit Ethernet-equipped PC. Other specs include an Intel Atom Z5xx CPU (from 1.1GHz to 2GHz), up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, room for a 2.5-inch HDD, audio in / out, built-in WiFi, four USB 2.0 ports and Windows 7 (if you so choose). The rig is built from a 100 percent aluminum die-cast body, and even at full load it sucks down just 8 watts. Got the perfect DIY project for this bad boy? Good, now wait 'til January for it to ship.

@iPhoneMessenger
I wouldn't bother with this because of its Z series Atom, if you thought an N270 wasn't that great this will be worse.
@iPhoneMessenger "it's israel product"
All the more reason to get it then. ;)
@iPhoneMessenger
My name is Morph, i miss my plasticine girlfriend.
@Lando Calrissian
This deal is getting worse all the time
@(Unverified) Definitely agree.
only 1.1ghz - 1.6ghz
@va jj It has an Atom processor! What were you expecting, a 4GHz quadcore?
@CJ100570 va jj was just correcting the article
@CJ100570
Intel Atom Z5xx CPU (from 1.1GHz to 2GHz)
@va jj
you are wrong, the "old" fit-pc2 only has 1,6ghz (max) the new fit-pc2i (note the i) will be available jan 2010 and can be ordered with a 2ghz atom z cpu
8 watts @ full load? the usb ports alone can give you 10 watts
@mrqs
Well spotted.
@mrqs It would be a little unfair to include the USB port power in the figure.
@mrqs
I believe the USB standard allows up to 500mA, meaning each port can supply 2.5 watts of power. May be non-standard and allow more, though. Some USB chargers supply 1 A.
@mrqs That is not including USB or other power outputs. Even LAN might draw something when we're talking in the single digits.
This thing really is a great idea, many people don't need monster machines just to surf the web.
"Intel Atom Z5xx CPU"
Fail...
Oooh, so cute!
It's like a puppy that can surf the internet.
Throw in a nvidia chipset for graphics and then maybe you've got something. This thing will not do HD(properly) which is pointless for most consumers looking for this to be a liviing room/bedroom media center.... I can see other applications for it but you'll be losing out on a very large consumer market.
I know I'm gonna find some aliens on this beast and then get fired.
Can it run Crysis?
@inimicus
Sure. Just set graphics settings to "ascii".
@inimicus
You think it's a joke, but soon through onlive.com :)
It doesn't look like there's much room for expansion, and why couldn't they glue an optical drive on top of it? Ehhh...I have velcro.
It's gonna be kinda cool when the whole CPU is in the mouse and it connects wirelessly to the monitor and the power source. The mousepad will have a touch interface too for all your drawing and multitouch needs. All this, and you'll be able to run Crysis with your Palestinian girlfriend!! ...ahhh, technology.
there's gotta be a keyboard with a whole computer inside somewhere
@(Unverified) Probably because a cd alone is larger than that there case, let alone the drive surrounds. Fail.
The idea's to keep your media elsewhere I think.
@mrqs EEE Keyboard? I dunno havent heard from that thing in a while. Does it even exist? Is it out yet?
Why delete the Microsoft logo from that fine keyboard
@Lare2 It's a drawing, a very good drawing. You can tell by the highlights on the corners.
I think the buttons on the keyboard are real (texture is too good) and shopped onto a drawing of the keyboard case so that the lighting/reflections match the main device.
It is a great keyboard, looking at mine from the side the case is much thicker in the top right corner it doesn't taper like that.
It's very pretty in the clouds :-)
it's on eeeeEEeeeBay!!! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Fit-PC2-XP-HD-Nettop-PC-Intel-ATOM-Z510-1-1GHz-Win-XP_W0QQitemZ150389638226QQcmdZViewItemQQptZDesktop_PCs?hash=item2303ebc452
@mofy
That is there current model which can also be purchased through the company's website...
gotcha, thanks mate "-)
i bet the power source is external and is 10 times as big as the pc itself...
For the same price you can get a pretty decent machine. The Dell Zino HD! I'm sure it pulls more than 8 watts and it's RELATIVELY bigger in size, but it's way more bang-for-your-buck.
Wonder why they went with the mini front USB ports. They really could have gone full size there. Also interesting use of the dual gigity.
no mention of HDMI?
without HDMI, this sweet sexy little box is useless to me...
ok, it looks like the Fit PC2 has an HDMI looking port labeled as DVI and the PC2i lists DVI... perhaps they ship with a HDMI to DVI cable?
With HDMI, I would just keep this little guy behind my TV and use it for Netflix/Hulu
@(Unverified) I'd consider that as well... I just wish Hulu and PS3 would get along and then I wouldn't have to consider it
@(Unverified)
Can it even push full screen Hulu?
This would be awesome for a PFSense box, but I don't see a price tag. 0.o
@chanocular
The prices on these shouldn't be to much different then the prices on the current models: http://www.fit-pc.com/web/purchase/order-direct/
Paulsbro chipset, no thanks.
