Mintpass Cube MP3 player features plenty of style, few capabilities

The folks at Mintpass, known for its adorable Mintpad touchscreen PMP, are back on the scene with a little something called The Cube. A schticky audio player that goes out of its way to recall the analog gear of lore, this 2-inch cube sports push button controls, analog displays for volume, battery charge, and frequency, 3.5mm audio out, and Bluetooth. We've got no idea what the storage capacity, price, or street date might be, but we do have some pretty pictures for you. Check 'em out after the break.
they look awesome but i thought they were speakers for a ipod/mp3 player... that would be much better
A 2" cube is pretty crappy as portable device (as Mint seems to advertise that thing). Can't put it in your pants. Jacket pocket maybe, but then, here in Florida one does not wear a jacket all that often. Backpack? Too thick and unwieldy, makes bulges. Attention guys: There's an extremely good reason why most players are flat!
Now, as a desktop, shelf or kitchen player, we have a deal! Make it a bit larger, maybe add or bundle some speakers. But even just like this I would use it.
@elgarak Well lucky you, here in Reading we have shit weather all the time, so we wear jackets essentially as an extension of our own skin.

I love the look of this, especially the dials, but the cube shape makes it seem like it would be incredibly awkward to carry around.
Slam a flip clock in it, and I'm in.
They should make some jumbo sized ones, so i can stack them up and put my mattress on top of them.
I'm so glad this had no prices or ability to order it. I would have ordered it at just about any price right on the spot. This thing is absolutely gorgeous, the modern retro, digital analog, themes - so so darn cool. I'm hoping Engadget remembers to post this when it is manufactured.
Yes it is a concept. And the other concepts at the website are amazing.
Anybody notice the MHZ? means it probably has a FM radio....
I would say the MobiBlu Cube 2 is better hell it even plays video
