UK man builds life-sized Dalek, furthers intergalactic evil
Sci-fi fandom and the DIY ethic go hand in hand -- and for evidence, you need only look at the large number of Star Trek and Star Wars-themed projects we've seen in this space over the years. Still, few of them have achieved the scope of the full-sized Dalek that Rob Bosher built for about £700 (roughly $1,140). Powered by an electric wheelchair and constructed mostly from wood, this guy can be piloted via remote control and even features working lights, a moving eye (a reconstituted magic eight ball) and a voice modulator for the creepy, alien order to "exterminate." When not trying to slowly (very slowly) populate the earth with a robot army bent on universal conquest and destruction, Bosher hopes to use his project to make money for regional charities.

I think the guy is just small of posture.

I'd like one where I can sit in and drive around.
Nevertheless, very, very, very cool.

When I was a child I remember them showing a dalek police car that threatened to exterminate speeders on Tomorrow's World. In hindsight, it was almost certainly an April Fool's or some other spoof.
You may be surprised to learn this isn't the first homemade Dalek. The last one I saw had a guy inside rather than being remote control however. I did take a very similar photo of it being pushed along the high street though,
Well well well.......i'm amazed to see my build has traveled the atlantic.
yes it was me who built this Dalek...(i call him MACK...google sunderland supporters to find out why!)
Just to set a few things straight, i'm 5' 5", the photographer wanted a picture of me to be seemingly pushing the Dalek....no idea why because he moves perfectly well on his own (with my son/me inside). He is NOT remote controled, he is powered by electric wheelchair motors. this article appeared in our local newspaper. and yes there are hundreds of other fan built Daleks out there, mine is nothing special. it was built with the plans and help of the folk from project dalek forum, if you would like to see how it was built, do a youtube search for Dalek Mack......oh and the guy/gal who siad i look like davros....what a compliment....LOL
