Whoa, we sort of guessed the
Boxee Box was going to be small from
those press pics we saw the other night, but we didn't know it was going to be freaking tiny -- check out this shot of the asymmetrical set-top next to a Coke can just posted up on the Boxee blog. Sadly, neither Boxee nor D-Link has updated us on what's actually powering this little guy, but we do now know that it'll have an RF remote control and S/PDIF and RCA audio outputs in addition to HDMI, SD, USB, WiFi, and Ethernet. Sounds like a tiny little chunk of awesome -- we're looking forward to finding out way more at CES.
Cute little gadget! I love the crazy frog icon too. I think the Boxee design team had just the right amount of weed to smoke.
@bigcow05 it was designed by Astro Studios...
the same firm that brought us the XBox 360 and Zune HD
It may be small, still a stupid shape. Kind of reminds me of the story from a few days ago about that idiotic DSLR concept camera. Another example of some designer with their shiny new design degree throwing practicality out the window in the name of being different.
How do we know that it's not a giant 2 feet coke can there..
I think it's powered by "The Cloud"!
awww is that thing able to output full HD? for 200$? want!
It's ironic, we all (myself included) complain about unimaginative flat boxy Home Theater PC, then Boxee comes out with this bizarro Box and suddenly the dull flat boxy HTPCs are actually looking pretty good.
I hate product placement ... couldn't they have used a non-branded can?!
can't believe the size. looked bigger in the promos, but i'm really really glad that it's so small.
I think it's great to have another oddly sized and shaped device to clutter up my media center. I mean, who wants a device that actually stacks on your disc player and your receiver? No! We want oddball shapes that clutter up the place! What a clever designer.
