Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition is expensive, gold plated
If we know you (and we think we do), your idea of class isn't a modest candybar dipped in gold -- no, it's a modest candybar made from hand-cut and polished solid gold. But just in case you feel like slummin' it, the Nokia 6700 Classic Gold Edition is, as the name suggests, a 6700 Classic handset with a limited edition 18-carat finish, some special wallpaper (to compliment the phone's Fort Knox-esque new look), and a €370 (roughly $550) price tag. Tempted? You have until Q1 2010 to come to your senses.

370 euros is actually somewhat reasonable.
At least it's better than Vertu (it sure looks a lot better, and at least it's got some acceptable specs) even though Vertu is owned by Nokia, right?
@TT Yeah, I was about to say that ~$550 isn't that terrible compared to other 'luxury' phones... Still would never get this though.
Don't forget these gold versions retain value. 8800 Scirocco gold are still quite expensive.
@Almo I wonder how much those pawn shop and cash4gold places will offer you for this Nokia
NO MR. BOND I EXPECT YOU TO... ah hold on my phone is ringing...
Yellow....ah dude WAAAAAZUUP, no not yet, no. I was just about to when you called, had a great speech too. Whatever, any fool can shoot somebody, I got a FREAKING LASER!
@Boyo
Freakin GENIUS, dude!
@Boyo
Your post is full of win.
That is all.
eww.. tacky!
looks really cheesy
Oooh, "special wallpaper".
Gold when used by a classy person can be classy, swarovski crystals are always tacky.
Persians everywhere just came buckets
@Luffy
The phones wouldn't be gold anymore then, would they?
I like it. although it might be hard to use openly.
this is tacky
Try to get out of the store with it...
Scene: Deep in a secret Norwegian phone factory...
"Hey Bjorn, wut can we do wis da blacklog uf old pohones? Just schlapping 'Classic' ondem izn't sexy enoof.
Both men pause a beat, then look eachother, very excitedly in the eye and exclaim in unison-
"Gold Schpraaay Paint!!"
@tazmond: Pssst, Nokia is a Finnish company.
@Mr Death the accent is the same =))
@Phreakazoid
No, the accent is not the same.
Any Gold=Ghetto Gold!
How can I get a gold plated phone for less than the iphone when it csme out? I expected a hand-crafted gold plated phone to be just a tad more.
Electronics in the EU are priced higher than their US counterparts, so it won't even come out to $550. But what good a luxury good is if it's not expensive or functional I don't know.
@YpoCaramel
Yep, under 400$ is closer to real price. Nice.
i'd hate to drop this on a rainy day
i should buy this just so i have a reason why ATT always drop my calls...now i could blame it on the gold plating
Wow that's actually pretty cheap. Looking at "Nokias 8xxx and Vertu line".
It's tacky, but it actually looks ok. Thought i would get the normal 6700 classic that looks better, is made of metal and cost fraction of this ;)
The Nokia flasgship stores carry a wide array of phones like this. S40 phones with tons of bling. Don't understand it myself, but they sell like crazy.
*complement
Sorry, it always bothers me when I see a compliment/complement mistake.
It's the phone for those that have lost something in an unfortunate smelting accident.
it's unbelievable that they actually make this, meaning, there has got to be people who actually buy them...yikes.
@iroq d mullet You would be surprised. A lot of people buy phones for their looks, to get attention, and phones like this fit the bill.
rumor has it that this is actually what was in the suitcase in the movie "Pulp Fiction". true story.
@iroq d mullet
Cool story bro.
a gold plated tiny screen slider that would have been cool in 2001?
who buys this crap anyway?
@(Unverified)
People who live off benefits and refuse to work. They love to flaunt this shit to the taxpayer.
@(Unverified)
A slider? It's a candybar phone. Where did you get educated?
A pity the GUI is still an eye-sore.
I want to get this so I can spend another $100 getting a cheap polypropelene cover to protect all that gold that no one will ever see!
Why does one image show the area around the call/hangup buttons as gold and another picture show that area as white?
GROSS. I'll take my nearly-black E71-2 any day. You couldn't pay me to use that ugly thing.
