The first batch of
pico projectors weren't exactly world-beaters; the resolution was low, lumens were lacking and MSRPs were startlingly high. Such is life on the cutting edge. But AAXA's
P2 is riding the second wave, boasting a higher-than-average 800 x 600 resolution, 33 lumens of brightness, 1GB of onboard storage, a microSDHC expansion slot, VGA / AV inputs, a built-in speaker and an integrated media player to boot. Our good pals over at
Gadling just got their paws around one, and they seemed duly satisfied with the performance. Unlike many first-generation units, this one managed to throw up a respectable image even in dimly lit rooms, and while the 40-inch image was understandably the best, it did manage to toss up a 100-inch visual when pressed. Hit the source link for the full writeup, and if you're planning on buying in now, it's available for a sale price of $319.
Hmm still waiting for the Show WX... Supposedly it started to distributers a few months ago...
Ugh, when it comes to the UK it will probably be £400, which translates to $650. Darn you, Americans!
@PATRICKmcnicholl I don't quite see your point. The wages are higher in the UK as well. Norwegians stopped moaning about the discrepancies in price between their homeland and... pretty much everywhere else in the world ages ago.
@PATRICKmcnicholl Ugh, the minimum wage in the UK is 5 pounds 80 p, which translates to $9.40 versus our $7.25 (working 40 hours a week all year, this is an extra $4,472 at the end of the year)! Bugger you, Britons!!!
That's right, Patrick, a minimum wager in the UK could buy TEN more pico projectors than a minimum wager here.
@PATRICKmcnicholl I agree, i am sick of our prices getting jacked up more than a £100!!!! how is that justified!!!! How can they justify charging us £100 more than everyone else!!??

Tax in europe is on average 20% higher too, so keep that in mind when comparing wages.
A 720p resolution would be nice. Maybe the AAXA P3?
nice, now I can share my Pr0n collection wherever I go!
let the public fornication gatherings begin!
10 Lumen laser system good luck with that...
Any one know if this has keystone adjustments as thats been left out up until now!?
Does anyone know the optimal settings for playback on the internal player?
The spec's SAY it will play .avi's, .wmv's and .mp4's.. but it will only play certain ones, based on the codec's (NO APPLE H264)
I got compression specs DIRECTLY FROM AAXA and they don't seem to be working.. I've got both a mac and a PC.. . I'm really close, but it's not exactly correct..
Otherwise, as a pass through, it's great.. Amazing product.. Just would like to use the internal player.
Thanks
@gadgetsean
Hello, I've just received my new P2, too!
Excellent quality, really, given such a small device!
I'd like now (while waiting the cable to directly connect it to my iPhone) to play videos at maximum possible quality using the internal player.
In widescreen (16:9) I'd like to directly playout videos at 800x450 (that's the scaled down version of 1280x720) for my business activity.
I've tried WMV9 (through Sony Vegas 9) but it doesn't work. I tried WMV at 640x360 and it works but really badly.
What could then be the best codec for best resolution? Thanks!
Anyone know how this will compare to the Microvision WX?
I actually want this. No clue when id use it, but i want it.
Yes, I have a good idea about the Microvision WX. My g/f works at a laser optics lab that repackages lasers for DVD players and at their Xmas party I got into a discussion with the CEO (PHD optical guy) about laser projectors since I own a few pico projectors and a Mitsubishi laser TV. He basically said that while laser will probably have better color saturation and with laser the image can appear a little brighter but it is only brighter due to human perception. And since we all know that 8-12 lumen projectors are mere toys I'm going to say the AAXA P2 is better. You guys should also look at the Benq GP1 - that one is 100 lumens but it is not a pico projector
16:9 widescreen next (or alternative) now please...
(+hdmi / mini-hdmi / mini-display port)
Well if you show 16:9 on this it's just 800x450 pixel resolution, which still isn't too bad right?
They should put a huge-ass heatsink on the back for that LED so the fan-noise isn't needed, that might be tricky if people put their fingers on it, but it's not for toddlers and the heat will teach you to not do it twice anyway.
ughhh.... take note from the makers of those wonderful Asus eee machines. Battery Battery Battery!!!! People will start buying these things once they have decent battery life. Make it chunkier, whatever... Their are only so many people that will use these things for presentations. If you want to start marketing to the larger masses of iPhone, PMP, MID, Zune fanatics, you will NEED lots of battery life... Someone please create something we can use anywhere anytime! Hell I'd pick one up just to use while camping if it had decent juice. I could see these things flying of Walmart shelves if it had BATTERY LIFE....
@WhatGeeksDotCom It does have optional 70 and 180 minute batteries, the 180 is actually bigger than the projector: http://www.aaxatech.com/store/products/p2_external_battery.htm
I have not been able to find the 70 minute one, but it looks like its the same size: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03W9bhstAUc
