Eldar Murtazin: "Foxconn received order for next generation iPhone"
You've heard of Twitter, right? What about Eldar Murtazin, heard of him? He's editor in chief of Mobile Review and the ultimate insider when it come to all things mobile. So when we see a Tweet like this: We're inclined to believe it's true and certainly give Eldar's statement more weight than a random analyst note. Besides, if Apple's going to keep up the mid-year iPhone refresh cycle then the timing's just about right, eh?"Foxconn received order for next generation iphone"

Anyone remember when the AP vowed not to report on Paris Hilton for a week, just to see if it could be done? I would love to see a blog try that with Apple.
@jin and guice
For real!
OMG BREAKING NEWS! A company is doing its yearly product refresh!!!!!!
apple is going to have to pull its thumb out this year if they want to stay near the top of the pack.
their software is rock solid but their hardware is embarrassingly bad for such a good company.
5MP or 8MP good quality camera with 720p video recording, free GPS software and codec support and you might just get heaps more customers ;)
@liquidmonkey
If all of this happened, it would still be irrelevant to many who are now leaving Sprint for Verizon and the Droid. A combo of reliability and features that is enough to trump the iPhone experience on AT&T.
If iPhone did nothing but announce Verizon availability it would be a huge win for Apple.
@Bobbo
i'm in europe so we don't have those silly carrier limitations ;)
@liquidmonkey rock solid? are you on drugs?
@dima1109
haha, sure, their software is not perhaps ROCK SOLID but it is pretty good, otherwise people wouldn't buy it.
all i'm trying to say is that i hope apple match their hardware to the software otherwise..they are FINISHED.
its tru but its for verizon and not sprint sprint iphone is going to be released in 2011-2012
I can't wait for the rumors to fly. I'm expecting so good good shit on this next iPhone. With all the fuss there's pretty much certain stuff they have to address.
multi-tasking multi tasking, MULTI TASKING. even though thats more of a software thing.... now that i think about it, about 90% of my issues with the iphone are software fixable.... except for the camera....
or the love of god UPGRADE THE CAMERA.
@iName android, android, ANDROID
@dima1109 until at&t gets an android phone, its not happening lol.
To all the waiters and haters
bye, cause im going back to being able to do whateverthefuckiwant to do on my jailbroken iphone now. Its null whether you like apple or not, it is simply the best smartphone right now with the largest software support group you could imagine.
@NAW Negative, ghost rider. This may be your personal opinion, but I have mine. And I'm sticking with Android ALL THE WAY.
@NAW
I'm happy with my jailbroken 3G right now.
personally gonna wait until they unveil the new model and then pull the trigger once its confirmed to be jailbreakable.
Not really interested in a non-jailbroken iDevice.
the 3 days of having stock OS3.0 wail waiting for the jailbreak to be realeased was brutal
@NAW iTard..
@Anarhcorax
That's the best you can do? Seriously?
I swear, if Apple doesn't come out with a revamped exterior for the new one... Also, would a 5 meg. camera w/ a slightly better lens be too much? And for f*&k sake, get rid of the plastic backing. The metal one was so much better.
@(Unverified)
Why 5MP? Serious question. Knowing that it doesn't improve the quality of the camera, why do you want your pictures to take up more space? The Droid has a 5MP camera, and it sucks. The iPhone takes much better pictures in addition to being able to manually refocus and re-expose shots.
The plastic backing is for antenna reception. That's the reason they got rid of the metal backing in the first place, and also why the original iPhone had a plastic strip on the bottom. For antenna reception. Now the iPhones also have GPS and 3G, and the plastic backing improves reception. All clear on that now?
@Jack That's the reason I said, "w/ a slightly better lens". I understand the iPhone takes good pictures but have you tried enlarging in lately? 5MP with a better piece of glass would make it usable like that one Nokia came out with. A phone/camera hybrid.
@(Unverified)
In what way are iPhone pictures unusable? They're 3MP! That's way too big for posting on most web sites, forums, blogs, etc. If you're taking pictures that you actually need to blow up, like for printing, then use a real camera. As it stands now, the iPhone takes better pictures than the Droid camera does and they're completely usable.
The megapixel argument is complete bullshit made by people who are ignorant.
Multitasking and flash is what I'm looking for.
@Ezye1313
good luck with flash, cause it seems as if adobe is not letting apple get it, but other phones will
MATTE. MATTE. MATTE.
Please?
hopefully its just a Verizon version...
Verizon please, Verizon please, Verizon please.
My contract with AT&T is just about over and Verizon works great around me. I'm ready to go.
I just want multitasking capibilities implemented along with the ability to play flash videos and a proper file manager or a way to wirelessly transfer files from your pc, oh almost forgot higher resolution please lol. The UI is just fine the way it is although some minor tweaks would give it a fresh new feel to it.
Eldar is the man!
I sure hope the new CEO of SE reads Eldar's open letter and turns around the brand that gave us the first true smartphone (P900)
Hmm...my contract ends around that time too, so I can get the new 2 year pricing. Make it thinner and matte finish, make it faster, even the 3GS lags sometimes, and give me a front facing camera for video chat.
@poematik14 Oh and 64GB of storage so I can get rid of my iPod and have everything on one device
The iphone should become the standard. It should be like the IBM PC we all love and hate. Made my tons of different vendors, supporting many similar and different operating systems.
Just qq less, cause you all know you wish you had one, and if it were the standard well crap the damn phone bills would be waaaay more competitive.
sheesh
How about a "Full Unleashed - no need to be jailbroken - Special Edition" for us PC users.
I'm hoping for RFID/NFC capability with a Mobile ATSC tuner. Maybe some Snapdragon in the mix also.
I can dream can't I?
is apple going to bring out a smart phone?
Please more battery life new features new design and powerful speaker
I can't believe that this breaking or a big story. There is no information here, and nothing that wasn't expected.
I expect the next iPhone will have a 5MP camera, possibly with flash, multitasking is likely as well.
It will have 64GB of storage. I kind of doubt the resolution will be upped (will mess up their apps which is their best advantage right now), and I doubt the OLED screen too. Speed doesn't really need to be increased, but they may.
In other words, fairly meh incremental upgrades.
battery battery ...please at least enhance the battery life...
1. Not breaking news.
2. Likely (it's Friday!) will be called iPhone 3G PRO -- it's all about making the product line up consistent.
3. For all the posters with comments like: "please include XXXX" or "more YYYY" or "Add ZZZZ"..... There are other phones that satisfy you needs--just buy them and be done with it. Apple will ultimately decide what it should give you (which maybe inline with what you want). It's called competition and a free market.
WE need...
1-Multitasking
2-higher res screen (Bigger screen)
3-Better battery life (better yet removable battery
4-MicroSD slot
5-Wireless N as well as B and G
6-HSPA up to 20Mbps
7-A 5 mp camera minimum and a camera in front
8-A blackberry like messenger
9-I would like the next iPhone or next OS upgrade to incorporate encryption and data compression ala Blackberry
10-a true Microsoft Exchange bridge or interface, non of this "Active Sync" crap
11-Make the new iPhone open, meaning jail break it from the start. Find a way to make it secure and open which will minimize jail breakers and hackers out there.
12-More than just the one button at the bottom of the phone, perhaps a call answer button, end call button, etc.
Although I am really enjoying the iPhone, I cannot get rid of my Blackberry Storm, they are in two different worlds, and I need both.
Did we not hear the other day that Verizon and Apple were close to a deal. The next gen iPhone is likely 3G EVDO, no? Oh yea, also more memory and perhaps higher resolution screen.
Did anyone at Engadget proofread this post before it was posted? Distracting.
The new iphone needs
