Motorola's Shop4apps online Android app store discovered
Leave it to the gung ho gang at Android and Me to do some clever Googling and discovering Motorola's web based Android app store, Shop4apps. The store has since been removed / made hidden, but not before we got a good glimpse at the whole shebang. There's a MyLocker section to check your download history, the ability to re-download and transfer aspps to a new phone, and a special MotoAppstore client for downloading and installing the apps (which unfortunately wasn't working yet). Frankly, the images aren't too flattering, so we're hoping for some further tweaking before it's official launch. In the meantime, hit up the source link for more pictures.

ummm someone explain this to me because I don't understand how this is different than the Android Market except that it's web based....Is this supposed to be better? Will this compete with the Android Market?
@nelagster
I don't get it either.... but hand it to Moto to make a useless app store alternative when they screw up the camera software on their Android flagship device.
I am a proud Droid owner, and the 2.0.1 update fixed it..... but come on Moto either spend time/money on something useless like a web based Market competitor or double check the camera before you ship.
@nelagster
It's web based, the fact you look at it on your phone may just be a side-effect. It's probably meant for you to browse the store and manage your apps on your computer, and I'll just say anything's probably better then what google has set up right now.
Seriously google when they're web sites dedicated to browsing the market from your computer because your version sucks so much, it's time to fix it.
@nelagster
Well the current web android market is terrible. I hope this gives you more searching power
@Apeman
you do realize moto didn't write the software for the Droid don't you? that was all Google.
The 3g indicator in the image has no bars?
@Ezye1313
Fail.
Those are not bars. Those are send/receive activity arrows. When an upstream or downstream connection is active the respective arrow brightens.
It just means there was no data activity going on when the screenshot was taken.
@Ezye1313
I guess that confirms the Droid's coming to AT&T then.
@insky
HAHA! Under Ezye's theory, you are 100% correct!
@insky uh no. verizon droid has the same thing even though it is cdma network. does not mean is running on GSM network.
@va jj
*Woosh*
@va jj
he meant that ATT has no service.....
Totally newsworthy.
Personally, the only thing I do not like about the unibody style is how difficult it is to replace the keyboards. In order to replace the keyboard, one has to take everything out of the machine, as the keyboard is built into the top bezel, and all the internals rest in that. So, don't spill anything, because your going to be in a world of hurt trying to clean it up, especially since Apple does not cover them under warranty.
@bonezmcgee you are commenting on the wrong article. ADD much?
@chadw Posting fail. Thanks.
How about some aspps for spell-check?
@chiragsangani
I hope that was unintentional, its even funnier that way
@Mr Smiley
I'd really like to see a complete re-skin of the android market
Including a better categorization of applications and screen shots!
Its possible for att devices, I bet if android comes to att, they will strip out the app store...
After LOOSING two applications to the ever-shifting Android store, having a locker of content that won't disappear with my money sounds awesome!
