RAmos T11TE 5-inch PMP outputs 1080p over HDMI, might be compensating for something
Look, we're not ones to knock specs for specs' sake, and 1080p output is certainly impressive for a $177.45 Chinese import PMP, but after seeing RAmos churn its way through some Android with the W7, it's hard to get fired up for this new T11TE monster. But back to the specs: there's a 5-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, 16GB of built-in memory, microSD expansion and codec support galore. Mix in the fact that the whole player is less than half an inch thick, and even packs in dual 3.5mm headphone jacks, and we really have no excuse to be Negative Nancys, but we suppose we're just a little OS-spoiled these days. It's not you, RAmos, it's us. We've changed.

man where can i buy one of these things? i've been googling around but no luck.
@saturnblackhole opps never mind http://www.ownta.com/ramos-t11te-full-hd-pmp-player-with-1080p-hdmi-output-and-otg-function-16gb.html feel free to -vote me into oblivion

@saturnblackhole
It's because the t11te isn't out yet. But you can buy it from this site when it comes out.

What's with the darn stylus? Do people still use them nowadays?
MP4 NATION dot net player review!
what I don't get is why these HD players only have 16GB of space, that's 1 or 2 HD films.
@(Unverified)
At least it has microSD.
The fact is that putting HDDs in PMPs is pretty much dead and until prices of flash memory falls to a point where 100GB+ is affordable, storing HD video on them for playback via HDMI wont make a lot of sense.
@(Unverified)
There's a MICRO SD slot...so that's 32GB extra space...
720p MKVs (x264 encoded) on average are about 4-5 GB...
1080p MKVs (x264 encoded) on average are about 7-11 GB...
So with a 32GB microSD slot, you can get 6 1080p movies, or about 9 or so 720p movies...I guess that is kind of small...but I guess more space would make the device thicker...so it's a trade off really...
But for me, I keep all my movies stored on my RAID \ Server and would just constantly change them on the media player whenever I get new ones...Media players just don't have the storage requirements (yet) for them to be personal archives for 100% of your media...maybe in a few years.
Still, this is a very impressive piece of hardware -- a lot better than what we get to choose from here in the USA.
@Wolfticket I disagree, look at the Archos 5, it has 500GB of storage, and is relatively cheap, if I had to choose between a flash based media player which has the same sized screen and costs a bit less, I'd still put up with the Archos' thickness mainly because you get android so way more apps but also because you have 30 times the space of the competing Flash based media players.
@(Unverified)
I agree :-)
I also had an Archos 5, and given the choice for a device like this, I would still take the extra bulk for the vast amount of extra storage over the flash based alternative.
All I am saying is that people no longer really have the choice any more, because pretty much all new PMPs like this are flash based.
@Wolfticket
We're missing a point here. I will rest the arguments on the storage media. The breakthrough point here is a PMP that can be used to play 1080p movies via HDMI. Archos might do this using their docking station if there is one available for 1080p output, and that is extra cash and hassle. This is the idea that's been itching on my mind for a while now and it only took RAmos to read my mind. Simply brilliant! Way to go RAmos...please add an internet browser and I'm totally sold out...

Question is.. Which one will survive falling out of your pocket to the floor while playing? Give me a removable flash slot and a few cards over a sensitive micro hard drive any day.

This very well may bridge the gap between 8GB-32GB flash storage and 128GB+ flash storage. You're still looking at a larger device, but the Archos tablets at least show that it's possible.
Finally, a portable mediaplayer that doesn't skimp on output display...HDMI 1080p! Are you watching iTouch, ZuneHD, and Archos IT?! Long live China...
@pedpalina The ZuneHD has an OLED though. It looks miles better than LCD displays.
@bigcow05
Sea-miles or land-miles?
@pedpalina
Agreed, there's room for the chinese, they have a certain something that you don't get elsewhere.

"It's not an iPhone, but look, we stole the iPhone's UI elements and look how good it looks beside a MacBook!"
I fucking hate technology companies these days.
@jellotime91
Ah yes.. Because Apple invented the rectangle.
@(Unverified) You are an idiot.
I said UI elements. Look at the media control buttons. The reflective style panels. the flat status bar over the bubbled title bar. The position indicator/seeker. That doesn't look like the iPhone's UI to you?
Nobody in their right mind can call this original.
@jellotime91 No it doesn't look like the iPod media player. It does however look like Windows Media Player.
@jellotime91
Apple is a technology company :-)
While I'm guessing yes, is it an LTPS display? It's only really worth it if it is.
The fact that technology is getting to this point just makes me excited. Not because I want a 5" PMP/MID, it's because that means the bar is raised yet again for what Sony needs to be putting in the true PSP follow up.
Seriously though: 1080p HDMI out? 720p resolution screens? OLED and AMOLED in more and more devices? Capacitive multi-touch infiltrating the mid-range market? 32GB internal storage becoming a standard? If we're not looking at a proper follow up until 2011 or 2012, I don't think it's all that crazy to expect *all* of that in a PSP2.
Here's a random review in Chinese. Looks impressive.

Can this be used are a second touch monitor?
Yes...RAmos's product looks great..but it is total crap PMP if you try by your self...Telechips 8900 is not as stable as 7900( which is used by Sony China).
I have a Ti2 with TI chips..I hate it at first glance..Touch panel is like a crap...screen looks darker than Aniol V8000..
BTW, the review from china website is totally like Ad... they never tell the truth...
