@(Unverified) Because the Eris has HTC Sense UI, which has multi-touch implemented, so the Eris and the Hero both have multi-touch because of Sense UI. The nexus doesn't run Sense UI but a stock 2.1 android, and like all stock android versions 1.5, 1.6 and 2.0 there is no multi-touch at least not in the states and not officially.
