Psystar to shut down 'immediately,' world shrugs

Has the saga finally come to an end? Dow Jones is reporting that Psystar will be firing its eight employees and then "shutting things down immediately," in the words of the company's attorney with the bad-ass name, Eugene Action. Besides, after the latest round of losses at the hands of Apple, this should come as a shock to nobody. Now that we've put all that behind us, can we concentrate on something of importance -- like Tweeting swears from the Zune HD Twitter app?
Something tells me that this isnt over yet.
This makes me a bit sad. Pystar was my hope of having OS X released as OEM. Ah, well. We still have hackers.

Ok, Dude. I think what I was rooting for was Apple to open up their OS. Not for Microsoft. Congrats for being so smart!
There goes the last glimmer of hope that OSX would ever achieve even minimal mainstream adoption as direct competition to Microsoft.

@Ducman69 Do you know how the Apple business model works? Apple is a hardware company that supports it's sales through dedicated Mac software (OS X plus other Apple Apps).
The OS software world does not revolve around the Microsoft business model: Selling software to run on somebody else's hardware.
@Jack Do you own Apple stock? If you're a consumer, then OSX not hitting mainstream adoption affects you, both in your wallet and in third party vendor support.
Steve Jobs can look out for Steve Jobs, consumers need to look out for consumers, and this is bad news.

Hey all you Psystar supporters... I just wanted to say "good luck" in getting support for your Psystar computer. When I was using Macs, I *still* wouldn't have purchased a Psystar because I knew it would come to this. It was the only logical conclusion.
Why you'd buy a computer from a company that was doomed made no sense to me, but enjoy it. Maybe you can just load Linux or Windows 7 onto it when Apple fries the ability to upgrade or install OS X on it.
Really, you should have just bought an ASUS.

Uhhh,,,,, you realize Asustek makes the Macbook right? Quanta is the manufacturer for the Macbook Pro. So have fun with your Macbook, wait it's an Asus, which it seems like you just bad mouthed. Apple, Dell, HP, etc. all have OEMs make their hardware.

Manufacture is not the same thing as design, nor will any of the ASUS branded notebooks run OS X.

I think you're the one who doesn't understand.
OEM Means Asus is the company that actually builds the physical hardware. Asus was the ODM for the Macbooks until the Unibody designs came about. I think Quanta is the sole ODM for the Unibody Macbooks and Pros. No clue who is the ODM for the Air. The only thing Apple really brings to the table is marketing, money, and OS X. Nothing wrong with that, but to bash a company like Asus in the way ZeroCorpse did just frustrates the hell out of me.
Jack, last i checked, a good deal of those netbooks made by Asus can run OS X.

How can you fools be happy that the one company which tried to free OS-X, went broke? So you can happily ever after be Mactards without the fear of elcheapo imposters? So you will be forced to buy the mediocre hardware for full premium? Or just to much cash on your hands? Hope all you dumb shits will keep paying this nice monopoly price with a iSmile on your face. (And no, i am not a mac hater otherwise i had thought it would be a great idea to keep OSX as "exclusive" as possible).
