Jimmy and 'the nerdy guy' yuk it up Late Night style (video)
It happened, did you feel it? A shockwave of nerdery so sublime that only a slot on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon could contain it. Josh and Jimmy mixed up a mean stew of gadget gusto last night which you can now watch after the break. It's a two-parter 'cause even the boys in NBC post production couldn't limit our man Toplotsky to a single cut.

nice. pretty funny interview.
@CRWheeler Yup. I fully expect Josh to post a video of trying to open the Adamo with a cat's paw.
@CRWheeler
Josh is cool and all, but nothing involving Jimmy Fallon is funny, just awkward.
Security breach!
@Devin
Yeah, were they sure about "Toplotsky"? Someone hacked that.
Yee This is going to be fun.
Jimmy ftw
oh man that was brilliant ! way to go josh
Prototype tablet from IDC?
The more I think about...android on a tablet seems rather limiting.
He should have more time for Josh, cancel some shitty d-list celebrity and teach the people about tech!
@Echuu
There used to be an entire cable channel devoted to tech... that didn't turn out so well.
Even if NBC is in last place... they aren't gonna focus on tech...
"It has a Tegra chip"
You go Josh :D
@ipodman715 Sometimes we says things that humans don't understand, they just slip out
Josh is a natural on TV
haha @ the subtle reference to porn on a plane.
and the dell 'not puttin out'.
@Hydraulics
I believe Josh was referencing Jimmy's movie with Queen Latifah.
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0316732/
@IseWise Yep yep, he was... that's why he says "tax, something."
@Hydraulics Yes, as funny as it would be to assume he was hinting at watching porn, he was actually referring to the Taxi movie Jimmy Fallon starred in with Queen Latifah. Josh has talked about that movie previously on Jimmy's show because it was such a bad movie and it's fun to tease Jimmy about it.
@CapnShiner
Nah I'm talking about the bit where Jimmy asks about watching what on the plane then Josh says 'i'm not gonna say'. he was talkin about watching porn! the taxi bit was a separate matter.
@Hydraulics
Stupid comment is stupid...
@Hydraulics Are you serious?
He was referencing watching one of jimmy fallons movies on a plane. Since after he said "im not going to say" he said "maybe something with taxis or something"
@Hydraulics
He's "not gonna say" because Taxi was HORRIBLE
Jimmy knows that, is embarrassed by it
and thinks it's funny how bad it was
it's not just your run of the mill porn joke
sorry
This is awesome. joshtops has def improved since the first time he appeared on the show. way to go josh, I must admit I was a bit nervous when you took over for ryan but you havent let me down. I knew you were a cool guy when I saw you at the nyc reader meet up. your taking this site places, keep up the good work. next time you should bring mr. patel, i wonder how that would turn out lol.
To them (plain old people) you a are "the nerdy guy", to us "yet another nerd" ... i a mean the words like Tegra, Snapdragon and Android is every day words for us.
@Atkins Yet another lame attempt for Topolsky to try be "cool". FAIL!
First time I've watched this. It's not bad!
@Atkins It's supposed to be a clip of Josh in a Late Night show. Anything else you need explaining?
@Khris Josh isn't trying to be "cool." He's being himself. And he loves gadgets. What's your problem? That they didn't call YOU to be on the show?
I think you're the only thing to fail around here pal... All he did was have a few laughs with his buddy, and introduce a couple of gadgets. What?
Josh: "The Nook can use Android :D"
Fallon: "..."
Josh: "Lets move on to the next gadget..."
To bad they didn't show Jimmy getting busy with Jobs back stage...
@KingJustin I know, right? he's such a fanboy..
@AndroidRokz Hello pot ...
@ Lyle totally agree w/you jimmy may not be as big as letterman, but for josh to be on national tv is a privledge just wish he wouldn't cut people off when they speak other than that i would say that it was a decent interview all the way around. - BLUEBOY
I kind of wish that Josh had made some attempt to address Jimmy's assumption that Android is too advanced for him. I think Jimmy just doesn't know enough about Android and if Josh had explained to him why Android is not too smart for him, it could have been a big win for Android. I doubt that Jimmy is the only person intimidated by Android. If anyone watching the show felt the same way, Josh could've possibly helped them realize the iPhone is not their only option.
@CapnShiner
It's a bit alarming to see guys on tv act like they are very old women from some country without electricity who are scared of devices.
Several talkshow hosts boast that attitude as if it's the cool thing to do.
@CapnShiner Maybe they just don't care...
@CapnShiner
the problem lies in Jimmy's blatant attempt to push one of his sponsors: Apple. I was a disappointed as well, but thought, "what an apple fan-boy." THen I noticed that Apple is one of the sponsors of the show. Obviously, Apple gave Jimmy some canned retort. Right when Josh mentioned the Android product, Jimmy knew exactly what he had to say.
sad.
@CapnShiner There is no mistaking the ties between Late Night With Jimmy Fallon and Apple. The laptop on Jimmy's desk is a Macbook, he's done bits about fictional iPhone apps, his personal phone is an iPhone, and Apple is, of course, a sponsor. Jimmy's not quite as rabid a fanboy as some, however. Some of you might recall that Jimmy and Josh did a little video from CES 2009 and Jimmy was talking about buying stock in Palm. They both seemed impressed with Sony's VAIO P as well.
As for discussing Android on the show, they probably just didn't have time. Josh had to show all the gadgets he brought, not just talk about Android for an entire segment. Just one defensive statement would have been nice.
Just port android to the iphone and watch the hilarity unfold.
@WacKHo
Your name must be wackho for a reason, that tinfoil hat fitting snug today? Also for being a regular reader of Engagdet one would think you would have known about last month's visit in which Josh spent his entire 4min interview completely on the Droid so why would they talk about it again? Jimmy just likes Apple products and tries to cater to the younger crowd with segments containing stuff they obviously know about and has Apple always been a sponsor or did they jump on board after the fact they seen all of Jimmy's Apple talk because anyone who's watched his show from the beginning would remember when it first started they would cover the Apple logo on his laptop. Now what kind of sponsor would have its products logo covered up during the first few episodes of a pretty popular late night talk show with a new host?
Hot gadget sex, indeed...
That's what I call successful humor :) Nicely done!
Awesome job Josh! :D
You guys are C'Cracked', I love these segments on Jimmy's show.
And it was the Taxi movie that he was referring to, just tweeted Jimmy and that's what the reference was for.
Yeah that swipe at Android and subsequent hypet about Macs is either extreme fanboy-ism or paid plug.
Josh is definitely getting better in these interviews. Great job.
Jimmy has also come so far, he was so nervous early, but now it is easily the best late night show.
@Lou3000
Let's keep it real. He interviewed Steve fucking Ballmer before.
Jimmy Fallon is but a morsel of a turd in Ballmer's asscrack.
I'd say JoshTops has rubbed shoulders with some pretty interesting powerful people, least among them Jimmy Fallon (who could never keep a straight face on SNL), and has no problem talking in front of the camera.Great clips.
Nice Pretty Funny
Blah Blah Blah MACS ARE SO EASY!!! Blah Blah Blah
He did basically say macs and iphones are for technophobes and dumb people, that might be a compliment to apple users but not to many other people.
Not sure that would be classified as an ad exactly.
Hey, uh, in all this did anybody notice that Jimmy Fallon isn't really all that funny? And no offense to Engadget or Joshua, but WTF is going on with that show that he's a recurring guest? Is the gadget culture really that big now? I'm gonna have to get into a hobby that is less mainstream now like vintage calculators or something, thanks a lot!
