Jimmy and 'the nerdy guy' yuk it up Late Night style (video)
It happened, did you feel it? A shockwave of nerdery so sublime that only a slot on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon could contain it. Josh and Jimmy mixed up a mean stew of gadget gusto last night which you can now watch after the break. It's a two-parter 'cause even the boys in NBC post production couldn't limit our man Toplotsky to a single cut.

It's a late night show (when people are sleeping), and not one to attract that many stars I imagine.
haha .. good show..
Jimmy: And up next is our musical guest.. now stay tuned for our sponsor Apple's iPod nano commercial.. it has pictures of printers... and you wont be able to get the song out of your head for days...
@Khris
Just listening to Josh on the podcasts and on the Engadget show is enough for anyone to realise that he is already an all round nice and funny guy. He isn't acting out of any assumed character. I'm just glad that something like this (geekyness or geekiness?) is out in the mainstream eye and the best bit is josh DOESN'T come across as some basement loving still living with his parents kind of nerd.
@WacKHo
Secondly, who cares if the show is sponsored by Apple, everything is sponsored, nothing is going to be 100% impartial. Get over it and enjoy the segment for what it was. OMG Jimmy mentioned a product and he must be fellating Jobs backstage, grow up girls.
The depths people will go to in order to bitch is amazing when all that energy could be put into something else.
A modest + for you.
@CrackedButter
2 Months Ago: OMG! Microsoft is sponsoring Family Guy? The show is forever ruined! I can't believe that Seth would stoop to such lows, we must appear at his house with torches and pitchforks to run this schill out of our country. I demand congressional hearings, as it is obvious Microsoft is still abusing their monopoly power. Only evil monopolies can take over an entire episode of a TV show. This is an abomination and shows just how evil Microsoft is. Death to Ballmer (Developers, Developers, Developers) and his family for this heinous crime. They need to be locked up in Gitmo for life, and tortured for this torture they are bringing upon us. Add FOX to the list of networks (which includes NBCUni) I am boycotting. Oh the horror.
Now: Yep, Apple is a sponsor. Get over it.
@SteveJobsIsAnAss
I think its fine if a show is sponsored, but we should all take the positive step of being aware of it instead of just negatively bitching about it.
@SteveJobsIsAnAss
@SteveJobsIsAnAss Love the name
not sure why last post failed
Video not working for me.
Nothing shows up.
Man, I like Jimmy Fallon and all but his Android comments just confirm that Apple is for people who do not know how to use a computer.....just like the Wii is for those who don't know how to play games. Embarrassing. Android is a great product. God forbid a device that can run more than one app!
@DudeGuyMan
Well, Apple's iPhone success was primarily because it's easy to use. Multitasking makes a device difficult to use. 99.9% of those holding Nokia Symbian phones don't know that if they held down the menu key, they'll get a list of running applications to scroll between. This is why whenever I go to the hospital, all the doctors and residents carry iPhones. When I go to the airport, everyone's holding an iPhone. When I'm on the bus/subway, it's either an iPod or an iPhone. I don't expect multitasking to be high on Apple's list for the 2010 update for that reason; most ordinary people just won't want it.
I'm not one of those people, so my options are Android or WM7. But then I'll have to deal with the mediocre apps, which are fewer in number and inferior in quality, simply because the insane number of people holding an iPhone is enough o attract any developer, regardless of the iPhone not being "open", and their policies being "dectatoric"....etc. But Android seems to be gaining and advancing faster than WM7 ever will, so once I get the right hardware, I'm taking the plunge from my sturdy E65....
@TareG Good points, but I know Fallon is a gadget guy and his actions only made him an Apple fanboy in my eyes. Don't get me wrong. I think Apple makes great products as well, but I think Symbian is awesome (possibly my next phone), along with Android, and *gasp*, I even like WinMo because they all have their strengths.
@DudeGuyMan
Oh don't downgrade to Symbian. It's OLD. Trust me.
I'd rather you waited for WM7...
Hey Josh did Helen Keller choose your outfit?
I dunno guys... the awkwardness wasn't cute or adorable... it was kinda painful.
Josh was good
Jimmy just got himself in the running for biggest douche in the universe....his android rant was proof he is either an idiot, blind fanboy, corporate shill, or all of the above. I won't read too much into it since I do generally enjoy the show, and will try to not let it ruin it for me, but god damn if I won't cringe harder than ever before when he flaunts his macbook on screen.
Nice work, Josh. Just enough proto-nerdness for the late night TV crowd. I'm sure you've got techno-groupettes all over you but think of the rate of return if you ditched the tie and subbed wires for horn-rims.
The show could be all yours if you were as cute as Fallon,
Wow the first 10 seconds of stuttering josh was all I could stand. Its clear why he was on Fallon. Nobody watches it.
@slipdisc
I watched the clips after reading your comment. Josh didn't stutter once, and the segment went smoothly. Come on, man, it's the holidays. Lighten up.
I am not a huge fan of jimmy fallon, but I like that he is at least trying to give recognition to people in the geek world. Like having kevin and alex from diggnation and having josh on a handful of times. It is just something you don't see a lot on tv.
@zsmorr
well said. Even I can give Jimmy credit for that.
I think josh does a better job on the Engadget Show. :)
@WithoutHeroes
Well, there is a distinct difference between being a guest and being a host.
@jupigare That's what I though just after posting that comment. :)
youre a genius for going on that show.
he is always awesome and funny. with so much interesting stuff to show. love him
You did good. Fallon is such a apple whore.
@All the haters
You guys just need to realize that this segment with Topolsky was a million times better then the gadget giveaway on Ellen Degeneres. That is unless you like complete and utter stupidity. Good Job T-Man, good job.
it was funny how Jimmy couldnt stand anything Android. "oooh too smart for me"
but it was an entertaining night for my brothers and me. the clips of Jimmy and Jude Law were hilarious. though we didn't expect Josh to appear only for the last 5 minutes ....
That'll do pig, that'll do...
Great interview.
the nook is nice!
@Atkins
It's a late night talk show not some in depth tech review. Seriously, what do you expect out of it? He goes on, they yuk it up, talk about some gadgets and wrap things up. I think, for the people at home, it's perfectly suited and the audience always seems to love him. Josh is an extremely funny guy and it comes across even in this type of setting which isn't always easy to do.
@Khris
As already stated by others, he was just being himself and having some fun. Why is it so hard to see that? Josh doesn't have to try to be cool. He is cool.
@Atkins That's what an "introduction" is dude... It's not a full length, in-depth product breakdown... This isn't a show for nerds, it's a show for people who probably would rather hear gossip about Jolie's kids than what notebook is on the horizon...
You're hate for Josh is totally unfounded...
How come I can't play the videos :/
I do not care for Jimmy Fallon. I find most of his jokes unfunny.
How come colors are so horrible on shows like these, including Jay Leno, Letterman and all the other american (specifically late night) talk shows? Cheap cameras? Is it on purpose?
two heroes.
that taxi jab was hilarious
I was admiring Josh's awesome suit more than any of the gadgets presented. That thing is classy!

I thought he held his own very well indeed! :)
What's sad is that Josh was funnier and seemed more natural on TV than Jimmy Fallon.
How this show is still on the air baffles my mind.
@dcent1
If this guy is considered 'cool' , then I'm Rick James
