Dell pulls ads from Jersey Shore, calls show 'derogatony' (video)

Its seems that casual TV viewers and large corporations handle Schadenfreude very differently. While MTV's Jersey Shore has been a constant source of amusement for at least one Engadget editor, TMZ (our other favorite tech site) reports that Dell has joined a growing list of advertisers that are backing away from the reality series. In fact, a company spokesman (with a less jaded view of humanity than us) has gone on record stating that Dell doesn't "condone or support ethnic bashing in any form." And neither do we, of course -- but we do love a good laugh. Jenni "Jwoww" Farley is unavailable for comment.

This is the greatest show ever. I am already half erect at the thought of this week's episode. GET BETTER, SNOOKI! Do goblins regenerate at a faster rate than humans?
@Parias
SNICKIZZZ!!!!!!
@Parias
ha you do realize that girl is fine
The show filmed over the summer
@Parias - Only the half Rooster, half Goblin hybrid. You know, that other legendary Jersey Devil type creature known as the Belmar Cock-Goblin, LOL...
@Parias Snookie is a tramp
@ale
Wow, you're a lot of fun.
Holy crap. Do these Jersey guidos actually think that shaped eyebrows, signature tattoos, waxed hair and orange skin is attractive?
I mean, can anyone actually from NYC or Jersey actually admit they find that shit attractive??
@Parias
I am so happy that I have no clue what this show is. Sometimes it's so awesome being ignorant when it comes to pop culture.
@xCrunk I was just thinking the exact same thing!!
@Parias
Wow, it's really sad when the reality show is FAR FUNNIER than the SNL parody.
@Parias
WHAT IS THAT HAIRCUT ON THE GUY?
IS IT AKA "BART SIMPSON"????????????????
@Parias
Hey, wanna see a video of the douche that punched her getting KOed in like 8 seconds of cage fighting?

@Elranzer
I'm from Jersey and I truly think these guys are a embarrassment to the state... It's amazing how incredibly moronic people get a TV show. But, I guess it sells. Never stopped MTV from making something controversial/entertaining at someone else's expense before.
Michael Dell is the Situation.
@yuppiescum
jersey shore > dell
dell fail
@yuppiescum
But does he have back abs?
I find nothing wrong with the show. It's just like the other trash that's on TV.
Anyone one see SNL this week .. the B-ackage was amazing
@JTD YES ! they put up the video !~
@JTD back abs*
It's nice to see my paisan making stereotypes of themselves. You have to work at it to be this goombah!
I have never even heard of this show. Then again its probably been 6+ years since I recall even watching anything on 'we use to play' Music Television aka MTV.
@KAL326 you know, people realized a long time ago MTV stoped playing music, jesus, stop beating the dead horse, let me reitterate for you;
WE KNOW MTV DOESN'T PLAY MUSIC ANYMORE!! WE FIGURED THAT OUT ALMOST 10 YEARS AGO!
@SirNoDroin
MTV doesn't play music videos anymore? When did that happen?
Someone should have said something.
@SirNoDroin I realize the horse is dead, but that doesn't stop the hilarity of MTV's identity crisis. Maybe they should rebrand themselves as LAMTV, LOOK AT ME Television. However TLC is making a pretty good run at that target market as well. So I'm just waiting for Discovery to change over to Home Shopping and Disney to switch over to a softcore porn. Then we should have a whole new batch of horses to beat.
@KAL326 can't cable channels keep their well-known names (especially if they're acronyms) and become things completely different than they were when they started?
@Viakenny Its possible, I'm sure their is some generic enough channel/company that could make a change any nobody would really raise a stink about it. However, it just not going to go off well for some companies as their original name was synonymous with their original content. Take CNN or TNN, you have the Cable News Network and the The Nashville Network. It wouldn't really go over well for CNN to change or to a reality show/drama format and try to keep the channel called CNN. Just like it wouldn't make sense for TNN to try to jump formats to compete with BET. If you are going to complete gut the content and jump the shark, whats the point of keeping around a name/acronym that has nothing to do with your current branding efforts.
@nrb
It happened when they made the transition from MTV to Empty V. That was in the 80's
@KAL326 Your forgetting two very important things in your little analogy.
1. CNN has turned into an opinion based shark tank filled with chum.
2, Darius Rucker
That is all
DDR3 RAM ALL NIGHT BABY!
@artshark *in a jersey accent* IVE GOT YOUR DD3 RAM RIGHT HERE BABY (points to crotch)
@SirNoDroin
I'm seriously LOL. You have SOOO made my day. Thanks for that.
@artshark
hey baby, my pointing device got multitouch
I want to see Ronnie should leave Sammi for Jwoww.
@Edobe
Jwoww is DISGUSTING. Jesus Christ, man, REALLY?
derogatony ... who's tony? :P I assume you mean derogatory :P
@(Unverified)
you assume wrong. it's meant as a joke.
@(Unverified) As an Italian-American named Tony I find this show highly amusing. It's kind of like going to the zoo... I would never see these things in my real life ("Jersey Shore" by choice, I like the zoo), but I have to give it up to MTV for shining a light on these types of people.
Trashy? Oh yeah. Entertaining? Ooooh yeah. Also if I owned a business I wouldn't advertise on this show either. Unless we did "tramp stamp" tattoo removals or something.
Good for Dell. I've seen this show in passing. I say it again, good call Dell.
Did Dell also bother to define the word "derogatony"?
@triptych
did you bother to watch the video?
too late, dell will always be linked to excessive gel, aqua net, and fist pumps for me.
Jersey Shore? Are you kidding? Is this supposed to be the anti-Hills?
Next thing you know there will be a reality show about people that work in a pawn shop.
@LAY
Have you trademarked this idea yet? I'm off to pitch to the studios!
@LAY
Ask...and ye shall receive...

@LAY
I swear when I ran across the pawn shop show the other night I thought it was the 6th of the Seven signs.
@OddManOut
Ok, I'm done with TV.
@LAY
Really? The reality show about the mortuary didn't break you,
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Family_Plots
but the pawn shop one does ?
The sad part is both of those shows actually were/are mildly interesting. Unlike the Hills, Jersey Shore and their ilk which are just annoying...
In other news the average IQ that Dell advertises to just went up 10 points.
Any advertiser is an idiot to pull ads from a show that is getting this much attention/hype/viewers.
Sometimes its a good idea to play the "bad guy"
