Rfiddler zapper kills RFID tags dead, the hard way
Sure, there may be a number of relatively easy ways to destroy or disable an RFID tag (tossing it in the microwave, for instance), but where's the fun in that? There are plenty of good times to be had with this so-called "Rfiddler" built by Codeninja though, which disables tags (and potentially anything else in its sights) by emitting a strong electromagnetic field -- not to mention some sounds that will cause anyone standing in its vicinity to take a few big steps back. Head on past the break for a video, and hit up the link below for the complete parts list if you're interested in building your own.

imagine one of those in the airport!
Is there going to be a bazooka version. I'll take two.
Best use for a Nerf Recon ever.
@Jamin
Haha, glad someone else noticed that.
Why would you bring this to an airport anyway?
Because you are moving and want to bring your useful gadgets.
LOL He just took a Nerf gun and stuffed the electronics into it.
lets hook a car battery up to it and see what happens :D
I wonder if there would be a way to integrate this into the wiring of an entire building. Could send the place into chaos, as they would likely think the card readers stopped working rather than see the issue with the cards. They might let anyone official into the doors if they pretend their cards aren't working at the front door and look confused...
No this isn't some cheap TV show but reality, energy has a density, signals a range, and antennas need to be tuned to a frequency.
If you want to zap a building I'd say an upper atmosphere nuclear explosion would be the way.
@Wwhat Well, I was just being silly, but thank you for the "but actually." I have no idea what frequencies are being used or how large the amplitude needs to be to disable an RFID chip. I don't see why you couldn't tune a transmission to a certain frequency over the wiring, though. It's not a transmitter's shape that determines the frequency emitted. It is the frequency generator. You can emit many frequencies using some wire wrapped around a coil, for example.
I think a nuclear reactor powering it would be a little less destructive than a nuclear bomb, in any case. :-P
Looks like something from a Fallout game. Awesome.
Reminds me of something from Turok
WE'VE BEEN EMP'ed!
Waaaaiiiitttt....so what's the purpose of this?
Awesome device! I want one :D
