XBMC 9.11 'Camelot' now available for download, huge changelog in tow
Frankly, we haven't heard much noise coming from the XBMC camp in quite some time. All that changes today, as the project has just launched its latest major update in v9.11. The so-called Camelot build is now available for download on Windows, OS X and Linux, with the most notable changes including a revamped user interface, DirectX support by default in Windows, a "complete reorganization of the settings menus, automatic video information extraction, and smoother video playback." You'll also find updated scrapers, expanded remote control support and updated codecs. Tap that source link for the download and condensed changelog -- though, we should caution you that the live installer seems to be causing issues for some, so try and stay positive, okay?
Update: We've been informed that a live-repack has been released, so those install issues should be long gone.

@macboy Updated Live build is now ready.
...But does it still work on my modded original Xbox?
It does, but you'll have to find a compiled version elsewhere
It still does not support Xbox 360 right? Useless.
This is cute...but not even close to MediaPortal. If you want a true HTPC, use mediaportal.
@aiter Really? How is this nowhere close to XBMC?
@rickatnight11 Without sounding like a troll (like aiter), unless I'm completely missing something, XBMC doesn't do any PVR type duties.
I use SageTV at home to handle TV/PVR duties as well as media duties, so anything that doesn't include TV functionality, is useless to me personally.
Seriously, Mediaportal and its plugins like My TV Series and My Pictures are where its at.
I wonder if GPU decode could be done on the Xbox. I don't see why not.
@RITarded09 the original Xbox GPU does not have a video decoding logic block embedded in its GPU unlike most modern ones which do so no it cannot be done.
Wow this looks great! If only we could get a working ps3 version, i'd so use it as a frontend
Hurray! Even my HTPC gets a Christmas present this year!
Holy shit this program actually runs smooth now with full acceleration...nice addition to my WM7 server... I think this will be replacing Windows Media Center 7 in a heartbeat...I just need to get used to their library system, it seems some of my tv shows need to be organized a little bit better for the info to be scanned correctly :P
This is a great app. I just unplugged my Dvico TVIX HD M-6500. This thing blows it away. Now to find a tiny box with HDMI out so I don't have to run on my laptop!
thanks for this great post
PS. Don't miss out on the iphone remote control for it. Very sweet wifi remote.
WTF is XMBC? Would it kill you to at least give a 3 word description?
@McPOW Would it kill you to do a search?
@McPOW
Media.Streaming.Software.
Would it kill you to use Google?
@gellpak
LOL! Jinx, we owe each other sodas.
I gave this a try right up until I hit rewind while watching an ISO file and it fast forwarded. Tried again...same result.
I use to think XBMC was the gift from gods, but I haven't used it for years.
Time to give this another shot.
XBMC for XBOX totally changed the way g/f and I watch TV and movies. As soon as I've got some disposable cash, I'm going for the Revo and getting XBMC straight on there. As soon as the iPlayer streaming plugin's a bit more stable (or Project Canvas gets its shit together) we'll be ditching subscription TV altogether. If only that meant we didn't have to pay TV licence any more - *stupid UK*
Not too sure about Confluence though - tried it a couple of weeks ago, and - even though the skinners admit it - it's so derivative of the other popular skins around atm, but just isn't as polished. They should've just gone with Alaska or Aeon... on the plus side, the re-jiggered version of Confluence that I have works really well on the XBOX, which is more than can be said for pretty much anything except PMIII and xTV.
Runs really nice on my Mac mini. Apple remote functionality is sweet too. Its a keeper.
So I'm new to this who XBMC scene, but what makes this better then say the media center that comes with the new Win7?
@Speed1978 XBMC supports almost all formats (go check xbmc.org or Wikipedia), skinnable UI but no DVR of Live TV functionality. It can work as MythTV frontend but it's obviously not the same.
7MC's format support is by default way more restricted, yet you have perhaps the best DVR on the market with it (check out Engadget HD and Ben Drawbaugh's posts).
I wouldn't say which UI is better (I like 7MC's, as well), it's extremely personal. Try both and see which fits your needs better - both are free (well at least, if you have Win7 already).
Shame that XBMC doesn't easily support cablecards. I'd love to be able to ditch my Motorola DVR. I know you can grab shows via torrents but what is the legality of doing that?
@arcasinky XBMC has no DVR funtionality, so no CableCard support either. Even if it had, I don't think that open source and CableCard would be good friends :)
Torrents: that's something you have to decide for yourself - or ask your lawyer.
