Meta, Engadget: The Official Blog Partner of CES 2010!

Just like last year, Engadget has once again been chosen as the Official Blog Partner of CES! As you probably already know, CES is one of the craziest and best times of the year for Engadget, and while we typically shy away from industry partnerships, this combo is a rare distinction we wholeheartedly embrace.
Of course, for you (and us) nothing much changes when it comes time to hit the floor at CES 2010: we don't accept any hookups or editorial privileges from the CEA. Don't get all worried that we've "sold out" or let "the man" take control of us, and don't fret that we're not "keeping it real" or "coming correct." Just as usual, Engadget will be hammering away at CES coverage with the kind of unchecked ferocity you're used to experiencing. Our crack team of gadget geniuses will -- in fact -- be storming the floor, bringing you the first and best product news, and generally wreaking havoc on the gadget-loving public just like the CESs of years past.
One more note -- as you may have heard, we were voted Blog of the Decade in Adweek's "Best of the 2000s" poll. We wanted to take a minute and thank the voters, as well as all of our readers (voters or not); without you guys, we couldn't do what we do, and we'll be working hard to make sure the next decade is even better!

Man, you guys have totally sold out to the man, and are letting them control you! You guys don't keep it real or come correct anymore.
Congrats guys, that's awesome. I can think of no better blog to partner with CES.
@Bananarama Yeah, I heard from an Asian source that Josh got some huge checks for this gig. He then died. From a multi touch gesture.
;)
@Phillip ustream chat ftw.
Anyway, coming across a bit heavy with the whole "we won the Adweek thing, haha sucks to be you gizmodo stop writing political pieces" thing.
@Bananarama
"I can think of no better blog to partner with CES."
I guess Giz all but killed their chances with the stunt they pulled off last time.
Congrats, Josh!!!
@Bananarama i have a feeling that josh knows us commenter's too well
:)
@IndiaTech lol. Well it seems the geeks and non-geeks will yuk it up on Vegas! Not to mention the 20k gadgets that will be showcased there 24/3. What I am waiting though, is the official statement about the new google phone: http://bit.ly/ces-2010-details-and-history
Hopefully they will give the enlightenment we need towards that nexus phone we are clamoring for.
Great
It'd have been a shame not have that title again this year.
@mrspiteri Cngrats!!!
Very nice. Hope to see my RSS Feeds full of great news.
(By the way, is the LG Expo Software Review coming soon ? :S )
Well, it wasn't going to be Gizmodo, was it? :P
@r3loaded Only when Sarah Palin becomes president.
Can't wait to hear about:
1) New HDTVs
2) New Bluray Players
3) New Phones
Personally I'm not excited for 3D and I think it's a complete gimmick. Even with Avatar I feel I wasted my money seeing it in 3D. So I'm a lil anxious as to whether or not all the major companies are gonna force it onto the mainstream consumer....
More importantly. Is the Engadget bus back this year?
@liam The trailer will be in full effect. No tour groups though!
@Joshua Topolsky but please do a video tour like this year
Congrats
Congrats, I can't wait.
OMG Can we stop with all self indulgent Engadget post today?... lol j/k... Congrats guys!!!
I'll be there Friday and Saturday....can't wait!!!!
Congratulations!!! Two great posts today so-far iPhone App and being the official blog partner.
You need more truck trailers this time.
Congrats guys and Im looking forward to CES. Also I was wondering were you guys intrested for an intern???
@Modacke
And if they were they'd consider an application through the comment system?!
@Modacke I don't mind serving coffee and I can polish shoes really well. :D
@foobar
Dude I was wondering, don't need to get all sneepy about it
@TikiTeko
I do make a mean cup of joe, lol
Well done: this is why I pray to you guys at night.
Could it be that one reason Engadget gets this gig is because of Gizmodo's bad behavior at trade shows in the past? :D
@Leicaman :O Gossip Time: What did they do ? What was deemed as bad behavior ? Is it on YouTube ? DO TELL!
@Leicaman I must agree with TikiTeko, I would like to be inform on what happened in the past. However, I wouldn't be surprised since I was banned from Gizmodo for a comment. I emailed an editor as to why I was banned and he, yes he, said I was "being a jerk."
@TikiTeko
As far as I recall, they went around turning off TVs using mini IR remotes.
@DestrictoEnse It was one editor doing it, and it was hilarious. It should be noted, however, that Engadget remained silent on the matter (which could be because they didn't want to start even more of a rivalry, but most likely it's more because Engadget refuses to acknowledge Gizmodo ever).
"...while we typically shy away from industry partnerships..."
Sorry but that's kind of bollocks. You guys were pretty shamelessly in VZW's pocket around the launch of the droid with every second article being about that and the rest bashing AT&T about they're terrible network.
@foobar and when the iPhone was coming there were in every breath of it.... So, Dont HATE, APPRECIATE.... MICROSOFT WERD !
@foobar Please don't ruin this for us. We NEED those Verizon checks!
@Joshua Topolsky rofl
@foobar Well, you can read Gizmodo instead, which judging by their adverts, has become a wholly-owned subsidiary of AT&T. And Giz announcing AT&T has the best 3G network was of course, completely unrelated.
On the plus side, their site doesn't contain browser-killing molasses scripts and a love of serif microfonts. Damned if you do, I suppose.
Take that Gizmodo!
@ed They are lucky they still get to go.:)
Awesome. I need all the phone news you guys got...
*retrieves phone from washer*
Engadget, please, pleASE, PLEASE kill use of the passive voice for 2010 and beyond...it really kills your articles (especially when used 3x (YIKES) in one sentence alone)!
"Our crack team of gadget geniuses will -- in fact -- be storming the floor, bringing you the first and best product news, and generally wreaking havoc on the gadget-loving public just like the CESs of years past."
"Our crack team of gadget geniuses will -- in fact -- STORM the floor, BRING you the first and best product news, and generally WREAK havoc on the gadget-loving public just like the CESs of years past."
"... and we'll be working hard to make sure the next decade is even better!"
" and we'll WORK hard to make sure the next decade is even better!"
@DigDug There are no examples of passive voice in the passages you cited. I forget what the term is for what they did versus what you did (future participle vs. plain old future tense, maybe?). But yours isn't an improvement.
@DigDug That is, the difference is that their construction implies they'll be doing those things in a repeated or sustained way, whereas yours is open to the interpretation that each thing is done only once.
Ill be there!!! Its gonna be a great time!
I mean, it's cool and all and must be a great honor, but you guys are owned by AOL. It's not exactly a victory for the little guy, and quite frankly, Engadget's the safest choice for CES because you guys have such a "safe" writing style. I haven't seen a scathing review on here in ages (and who doesn't love those?!). Come on, guys, get back to basics. Blogs were never meant to be for corporate partnerships.
@Robotica Well look man [CONTENT EDITED BY AOL FOR CLEANLINESS STANDARDS] and furthermore [CONTENT EDITED BY AOL FOR CLEANLINESS STANDARDS]. You know what I mean?
@Joshua Topolsky
Robotica: "They see me trollin'...trollin'..."
You should have made a mockery out of some of the CES exhibitors by using some infrared remote thing to turn off their tvs. Then maybe you, Engadget, wouldn't be hailed as a respectable and professional caliber tech blog. Way to go!
whooooooooo!!!!! engadget
I have a question. Can anybody get into ces or do you have to have a press pass or be part of a company or something. I really want to go, but if i cant, i will just read the engadget coverage which should be great.
So if we are in Vegas, you get to hand out official passes? Awesome! See you there...
congrats!
