Nexus One trounces 3D benchmark, gets caught in high-res photoshoot

Update: Also on hand after the break is a high-quality video of the UI -- ten minutes of it, to be exact. Just a warning, there's a brief NSFW clip from Californication at around the two minute mark. With that said, grab some popcorn and enjoy!
Update 2: The original YouTube video was pulled. We've uploaded a new copy and embedded below.

Well Pre, it's been fun. But I'll be jumping ship for this baby come January.
@BuryTheCastle I'll be right next to you!
@BuryTheCastle
Pre is getting 3D graphics soon too
@BuryTheCastle Count ME IN!! ; D
@JeremyBenthem Ya, but it still is no where close the to Nexus one, this will be the GOD OF ALL PHONES.
@BuryTheCastle Send me your old Pre? I'll be your BFF.
@BuryTheCastle
This is nice. Very nice. But seriously, ditch the Pre? Even Android 2.0 can't match WebOS's elegance and flexibility.
If Palm would just build some hardware that looked as solid as the Nexus One, that would be nice too...
@naniekso - God Of All Telephones (or GOAT) hahahaha...
@streetstealth Having owned a Pre since June, can you show me where the elegance and flexibility of the Pre is? I can't even set the interval with which the calendar alerts me (except for 1 hour or 1 day in advance. What if I want 2 days in advance?).
It's a decent phone that does some things well, but excels nowhere other than having a great camera. It's laggy, it's missing basic features, and does nothing to stand out from the rest of the crowd. Android now has cardview, it has synching with everything the Pre synch's with (and more), it's faster, it has exponentially more apps, and countless more benefits, so what's the point in using a Pre?
Until you use it. Unresponsive face buttons were a downer. It is a very solid if not the best Android phone out there.
@Siraris fyi, those cards are just for jumping to different homescreens. there is no "multitasking" like the pre. apps can run in the background and everything but you really don't have a way of switching between other than launching through the homescreen/holding down home (which gives the last 6 apps, not the current running apps.)
@Siraris
The camera is good, until you move closer than 5 inches away from the subject you're shooting. No macro makes me a sad boy.
Come to think of it... it doesn't have auto-zoom either...
@streetstealth
I'm more of a techie person. I don't need massive elegance, I need more capabilities and and the optimization. After having the Pre for months, I still feel limited, even with patches.
And I'd rather have full touchscreen keyboard compared to a small physical keyboard.
@naniekso
it will be close enough depending on a number of factors. The Pre has a similar PowerVR SGX graphics core
@gonintendo my name says it all... Androids time is now! the pre's time never was!!!
@gonintendo Ah okay, didn't know since I haven't used Android yet. That's fine, to be honest, it's really not that useful of a feature, just a "show off" feature, and something to brag about.
@BuryTheCastle
I love my Pre, but if Rubenstein doesn't wow at CES, and if I can get out of my Sprint contract for free... I will be all over this phone.
@DrDr
If you browse Precentral.net, about last week they mentioned something about Sprint changing something in their contract agreements, which means you can get out of your contract scott-free if you call customer service in January. Or something of that sort.
At least that's what I'm counting on, come Jan 5th.
@BuryTheCastle
Ya, I know, but this thing costs $80/month, which is ridiculous when you compare to sprints pricing. Im paying about $52/line right now with Sprint, and there is no way I am paying an extra $1300 for two phones over a two year contract to get this over the Pre.
@PEZ i thought telephones were landlines, not cellphones.
@JeremyBenthem You always love google when it speak something really big and keep the hopes of people up.Although, we are still crossing our fingers that added sauce will arrive as the days to Nexus One countdown reaches its peak. I must say the Android Swype on the walkthrough vid is pretty cool.

@BuryTheCastle
This phone is coming out REALLY soon: http://www.kaycircle.com/index.php?q=What-is-the-Google-Nexus-One-release-date
Pretty excited....!!!!!!!
@JeremyBenthem if sixth months is soon, yes.
@BuryTheCastle
Well as i an iPhone 3G user in the UK, this is looking good. I hope apple are paying attention.
Is there any idea's on a release date?
@BuryTheCastle
sorry pre. you are just not ready
@BuryTheCastle This is exactly what I said in a past post: WHY do people keep saying they'll dump their already good phone in favor of a new phone they never even tried out yet?!
@naniekso
God of all phones. For a month.
@teapower
it should be a lot sooner than that, it will probably be discussed in their CES event, EA has already shown off an impressive demo of Need for Speed running on it, so unless they are into hacking, Palm probably provided them with the goods
@BuryTheCastle LoL. Enjoy the higher price plans and Uglyness.
@gonintendo You can open things from the search bar, two first letters usually enough.
@gonintendo
Holding the home button brings up a menu of the last 6 aplications launched giving you task switching
aww, I just got my HD2 too
@(Unverified) It's a great phone, just let down by an awful operating system (although the opera browser is alright)
@interested Awful? How?
@gundamboy
Ok well you have the best phone in the market for quite a long time. What's the problem?
@gundamboy
Yeah, and I just sold mine yesterday on Ebay!
@gundamboy
The HD2 is sooo yesterday :-)
No, like someone else mentioned, your phone will be one of the very best out there for some time to come. So, try not to worry :-)
@gundamboy
You can play Tekken 3 on your HD2. What are you complaining about?
@gundamboy
it's upgradeable to winmo 7
"...gets caught in high-res photoshoot"
now was that soo difficult?
@glenskey by the way, i am yet to see that "card" view of all home screens be pulled up on video, does such a video exist?
@glenskey Forgot the link but to open the card view of all the homescreens you press to either side of the grid where the two dots are. then it will pop up.
@glenskey you can see it around 4:43 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6s9NgROMsTo
@ruinfx thanks! i've been looking for a video like that for a while :)
but don't fret androidrokz, you get an honorable mention ;)
damn what can i say????
Wow. I'm in love with a phone. I'm in contract until October with a Samsung jet though. May be I can have extra marital activities.
Hello Nexus One,
I'm waiting you on 5 Jan.
Thanks
@rhezaganteng
ohhhhhh forgot,
i need to sell my iphone first.
@rhezaganteng Keep waiting, I already booked them ALL mwhahaha
@rhezaganteng Yeah, I should do something with my iPhone now. hello, craigslist? hrm.
