A New Year's gift to Engadget readers: 3 minutes of Woz
Steve Wozniak is a fascinating man. Super smart, funny, incredibly perceptive... and just a tiny bit crazy. Please enjoy three minutes (and 15 seconds) of pure Woz after the break. It's our gift to you.
Update: For those wondering about the GPS setup Woz talks about in the interview, he's posted up a short video of his rig in comments! We're including a shot after the break.

What a Gorilla
@Wes Steele Boy I'll say... but didn't we come from Gorillas?
@Wes Steele
You do NOT insult Woz and live to tell the tale!
@Engadget
Only 3:15? I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here who could listen to this guy for hours talking about his geeky anecdotes :)
@Eugene Action ass
@Eugene Action
no, we didn't
you're an idiot for believing we did
Just to state the obvious: this guy was a core part of the information revolution that has caused the world to become what it is today. Portable and more affordable personal computing.
Really love listening to this guy (and Josh too).
What a nice down to earth kind of guy.
The Wizard of Woz
@Skate It Dont Spray It Woz is like the Good Witch of the North. Now that other Steve...
@scoobydooby
This is the kind of guy I'd like to work with. He reminds me a lot of myself. Another big guy that appreciates big watches with accelerometers built in. I don't understand why I get hassled so much about the watches. The big difference would have to be our bank accounts which are as polarized as his white and black iPhones. So what kind of business is this guy involved with today? Sure would be nice to kiss the Milwaukee real estate market goodbye and follow my passion.
@DaveBach they have the full interview online somewhere - including my current involvement with a Salt Lake City company Fusion-io - fastast storage solutions on Earth.
@stevewoz
I'll have to check it out. My only other two connections to Utah I love...Shawn Nelson's LoveSac Corp and HostMonster shared web hosting.
@scoobydooby
Thanks for your nice comment. I like listening to him too.
Woz's wife,
Janet
@JanetWozniak & @stevewoz
Glad to see you two on here! Hope 2010 treats you well!
@stevewoz We haven't edited the full video yet -- we will have it up soon. Also -- nice to see you here!
mr. Woz, can you give me some advice on the flux capacitor im building? I just cant seem to get the wiring right.
@stevewoz
Wow great stuff definitely one of the humblest innovators for someone who has contributed so much to the industry and its advancements.
Also has done a huge part to help others giving children access to these tools, and also probably not noted enough his work with bringing awareness to the feral cat population definitely something i appreciate as having 3 currently.
Thanks so much!
@JanetWozniak You two are the best! Every computer geeks idol! Your a lucky woman to be able to pick the brain of one of the smartest men alive!
He's actually kinda cute ^.^
Oh boy. Any chance of a full interview?
As if we couldn't get enough of him. /s
@Cam Yeah, I don't understand. Balmer gave them about an hour of his time.
@Cam Maybe he'll be on an Edgadget show? :-D
@Cam this is just a snipped from multiple videos.. i remember the two iPhones one from a while back. Gotta love this guy!
Did you keep the receipt?
@FallenArms3 worst gift ever
nice interview - we getting the rest of it someday? and a new binary code: zero and nine!
thx joshua!
@hyaenidae
go back and listen carefully. he's talking about resistor codes...
What a different person from Jobs. Woz seems like the kind of person you could sit down and have a beer with at dinner. Jobs seems like the kind of guy who would be yelling and screaming at the waiter the entire time.
@Maeztro
Yeah, Woz is like Bill Gates on steroids.
Nice guy though. Engadget should replace the entelligence guy with woz. Now that's a person i'd love to read his thoughts on all things gadgets.
@Titanium Man
Agreed - a Woz column would be all kinds of awesome.
@Titanium Man Way better than Michael Gartendouche.
@Maeztro
mm not yelling and screaming..
Possibly more like staring the waiter down in a heavily subliminal way..
@Maeztro The waiter should not multi-task and only serve him.
@Titanium Man
The moment Steve Wozniak mentioned he's a loyal reader of Engadget I thought "reader, he should be a writer!" I now demand to see a column containing his full review of GPS devices based on his 6-way simultaneous test!
Does he really read engadget or is he just saying it. Seems like a nice guy though.
@kris120890 I read everything in Engadget and frequently contribute.
@stevewoz Wow! I have something in common with Steve Wozniak, I read engadget. I also like great music, I understand he does also.
@stevewoz great to see you here. I do not see/hear of you a lot these days. It would be great to see your POV on the present day tech/gizmos. if you are coming for an engadget show, then count me in, i`ll be there, from Boston :).
@stevewoz
Steve, the very fact that you're posting here is why so many loves you, thanks for all you've done and yet staying down to earth. All the best in 2010!
@stevewoz You are so awesome - I am glad you took the time to come on engadget. The fact you are commenting as well - makes you way cooler than any other steve out there... Ahemm.... Now that I have the tickle out of my throat - happy new year to you and your family. I am excited to see what kind of cool stuff comes out of Salt Lake.
Whoa, this fool talks more than Josh.
@(Unverified) ...and still manages to be interesting.
your oneliner on the other hand... >nil:
got it foo?
How can you take directions from five navi systems at once?! That's the thing that struck me...
@IUKonstantin
Guessing by the way he's talking, I think he'd have more problems seeing past the 15 laptops mounted to the dashboard of his car, rather than the sat navs ^_^
@IUKonstantin
You should read/watch/listen to some other Woz interviews out there from over the years.
Five nav systems at once is just a day in the life of Woz.
Interview Dave Haynie.
Woz is nice but its like hearing just one beatles song when u have a billion artists..
@doutorpiranha would you prefer Lil' Wayne? A little "Money to Blow" perhaps? Please... One song (or 3 minutes) from The Beatles (or Woz) is a gem compared to what these other idiots are mumbling about....
@doutorpiranha you're right, but for some reason people want symbols, especially ones that go bace to the apex of a pyramid. I have a truly blessed life and I get far more than I deserve. There are many brighter, geekier, more interesting and nicer people. Well, maybe not many nicer ones. I hope that the feelings generalize to them.
@stevewoz Glad you got my point. I expected it though. Of all the people... Things would be better if it didn't take someone as smart as you to share it though. Unfortunately expected also.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and not using it like not like a weapon, unlike some information holders... Thank you for staying humble even though you did and continue to do so much. Your joy in life is apparent and seems very viral.
Wish you all the luck in your new endeavours and i'm glad your shared some core values along the way.
Nice interview, looked like some stuff was cut out... I'd love to see the raw footage!
