Engadget now available for Pre and Pixi: the first webOS app of 2010 (and 1000th in the Catalog)!

That's right folks. Hot on the heels of our iPhone app release (which has since skyrocketed up the App Store charts to #1 in News), the webOS version has officially landed. You'll see that the experience is shockingly, wonderfully similar to the iPhone / iPod touch version, but of course there are a couple of webOS flourishes to be found. You can download the application right from your Pre or Pixi by simply popping open the App Catalog and, you know... downloading the thing. This is the 1000th application in the Catalog -- a piece of info we feel pretty psyched about. We've got even more on the way (like BlackBerry and Android versions), so keep it tuned here, but for now... webOS fans, go get your fix!
For those viewing this on a Palm device, here's your direct link: Download Engadget for webOS

Congrats! Looks like a pretty… Pre-style app.

Damn, almost 175 MB? Is there a surprise inside?
@(Unverified)
well, I think its style is perfectly present.
@(Unverified) Awesome, but not worth the breaking news tho
@BuryTheCastle the surprises will have to wait till CES. As someone else predicted here, Palm is going to own CES again now that they will unleash the OpenGL in the Cortex CPU.
@Unverified User the app looks amazing. mthis is my first post as engadget and I'm glad it is from my brand new engadget app!
Fine. This *might* be considered breaking news (as opposed to the iphone app)
@Unverified User replying via the app. Looks slick. Good job endgadget.
Well played, Engadget. Well played...
@(Unverified) Great app. Thanks Engadget!
Posting from it....works nicely...no TVSquad?
@(Unverified) Don't get a Pre... my advice = wait for the iPhone 5G: http://www.kaycircle.com/index.php?q=when-will-the-next-generation-iphone-5g-be-released
@BuryTheCastle Its only 1.9 mb. Check the store details again. 1926k.
@(Unverified) Finally! But where is the Android app... how is it harder to write than an iPhone app?!?!?! Must have some questionable programmers. Hire me. I don't believe your shenanigans.
@ANDZT
Waiting on my engadget android app aswell
@Unverified User posting from the app. Awesome. Though, jumping to the text field when replying to a comment would be a bonus... Or maybe that just doesn't work for me.
@(Unverified) I'm happy for Engadget finally getting all these mobile apps out...
but come on, who really takes the palm platform seriously. I wouldn't waste the money on programmers to code up a palm app... put your chips with the winners on the iPhone and Android.
2010... teh year palm finally got put out of its (and our) misery
@PalmIsGarbage
No one likes you.
@ANDZT I'm with you there...need one for Android!
@(Unverified)
We still need to see the ranks :(
@BuryTheCastle
I'll bet that it is an easter egg with 10 kB pics of all of the extreme Palm fans that have migrated to Android. I'm in there somewhere. 1999-2009 from Palm VII, VIIx, Tungsten W, Treo 650 wireless. Happily developing and enjoying Android.
@PalmIsGarbage
2010...(hopefully) the year that you will be put out of your (and our) misery.
Compliments of WebOS.
@BuryTheCastle ... 175MB? The app catalog says 1.89M
@ryan1 wow buddy... wishing death on me... thats low (even for a palm fanboy)
@Scape3d I love how whenever anyone addresses me they are forced to speak truth:
PalmIsGarbage
its sweeter than chocolate and twice as rich.
its clear from your comment history that you are a sad, diluted, Pre-contract saddled, Sprint customer. I wish you only the best and a expedited release from the pain of both Palm and Sprint into the garden of luxury that is Android on Verizon and hopefully iPhone on Verizon in 2010 as well... and even on AT&T, you know what they say... "hey, at least its not Sprint!!!" lmao!
@Ploni Almoni Sprint/Microsoft/LG will steal the show, with a Wimax WinMo 6.5 (4G) phone. Just a hunch since they are all 3 calling it the must attend booth.
@PalmIsGarbage I hear more and more often that your garden of luxury often drops calls
@(Unverified) Agree - App looks great!
@Smkingun
Awesome, webOS gets an engadget app before BB and Android. This tells you where their priorities are. :)
Or, that webOS is stupidly easy to develop for. That's been a huge plus to devs in the short time the SDK has been available.
Go Palm! You're the little guy that can and will succeed. :)
Awesome, looks pretty nice so far.
@jhoff80
I'm jealous, and feeling a bit hopeless as they are ignoring Windows Mobile. Please Engadget, make one for WinMo. I like how customizable this OS is too much to leave it.
Good job.
Even though we can see the complete site on Maemo, how about making an app for that?
@Cynical Hippie I second that request. you have seen its a powerful platform on a powerful device.
one word, MAEMO! the n900 doesnt get nearly enough coverage on here, all my mates with an iPhone LOVE IT! but then do we really need an app for engadget with such an awsum browser!
Holy Cow, I can officially say that this has so far MADE MY DECADE!
@RockNStuff Alright. Last one to get a free ride on that joke.
Nice. Mucho Congrato.
Commenting from the WebOS app. This so great!
@Kyusaku
This so great. Hulk like app.
not bad, much easier to leave comments. Thanks Engadget.
@krosref Agree...looks & works great! Thanks, Engadget!
Topolsky, you haven't passed out yet?
@logicbombde Topolsky doesn't sleep, he was posting crap on engadget on January 1st at 3am
...he's a freakin' robot!!
@logicbombde
I'm pretty sure a select number of their posts are queued to post at a specific time so they can provide a constant stream of news; while the "more important" news is posted immediately. It would seems far more likely it was done in that manner than him being up at 3am on New Years Day posting.
very nice. I love the irony that sprint brings me an app for my bell phone.
Very impressive, you guys don't rest even on new years eve. Glad to see you're not forgetting other phones.
@Eduardo I respect Engadget so much for thier fair assesment of Palm & webOS, either good or bad... Always fair... Keep up the good work guys... Loving the app...
-KE ... From Engadget Pre App
@Eduardo well they didn't say anything about windows mobile.
@maveric101 : Yeah. Where is any mention of WinMo? They might as well say "Nah, we're not going to do it" so we can at least not anticipate it.
Awesome! Nice going, Josh and team.
