Keepin' it real fake, part CCXLIX: Cool K07 is the ultimate facePalm
Yeah, yeah -- we've seen a fairly weak effort to ape the Pre before, but this... this is the knockoff webOS device your shady side has been waiting for. A dead ringer for the Palm Pre, the Cool K07 boasts a luscious 2.8-inch touchscreen (320 x 240 resolution), a T-Flash card slot, a 2 megapixel camera, inbuilt speaker, MP3 / MP4 player, a blazing fast connection to the web (GPRS, if you must know), Bluetooth, an FM radio tuner, alarm clock, a few games and room for 1,000 contacts. Granted, there's none of that fancy "Synergy" stuff, and we're guessing you won't find any "cards" or "multitasking" here, but for $128 unlocked and room for the SIM card of your choice, how on Earth could you complain? Exactly. You can't. Or maybe that's just stunned silence we hear...

can u guys do a full review, I liked my pre, but i'm looking for something new, but similar... Could this be it?
@Nimer55
Tell me you're joking.
@Gad Get
of course i'm kidding... Well i do have a pre, and would to upgrade as soon as i can, but not to this... I want a newer web-os device.. It doesn't have all the functionality as some other phones, but i mainly want a smartphone for the web-browser watching videos, listening to music, and the pre does that great. It lacks one major feature, flash, but it's getting it..I would really appreciate the iphone apps, and find some of the games to be alot of fun, but like web-os to much.. So i'm stocked to see what palm shows at ces..
@Nimer55
Yeah, I LOVE my Pre, multitasking is great, the keyboard works well, screen is gorgeous...
But this one is SHINIER. I must have it.
They should have called it the Preen... as in to make one's self pretty. Now that would have been funny.
Once android matures, and arm cpus get cheap, unknown phones will actually be nice phones. Not saying theres anything wrong with android, but like most the current operating systems, it needs some work...
@Nimer55 no it doesn't
@AndroidRokz
I think all current systems are fine, but they all need to be worked on.. Like I'll be fine with android, web-os, iphone, windows mobile, symbian, or blackberry os (or whatever it's called), but i believe all of them still need work. I think microsoft, nokia, palm, have already admitted that. Also blackberry os, is getting kind of outdated, and android, and iphone also have stuff to improve on. (they may, or may not have said it publicly, but I believe that they do.) I guess it's a matter of opinion..
Now it's hard to say for sure given there's no video of the device in action or no full review, but this looks as if it COULD be a good backup phone. Stressing COULD. The specs are certainly in line.
Indeed, why not? That price certainly is cheap enough AND the phone does what 90% of phone users out here want to do.
Ugh. The hardware on some of these KIRFs is looking really nice. They just need to drop some unlocked Android on there and this might actually be a decent phone. Why do they keep insisting on this closed proprietary junk?
I would agree, but also say add wifi, and if low cost gps at the very least.
@Jon Rubinstein
But don't forget, they're flattering to deceive...
Shame this is *still* the only Pre I can buy where I live >-(
is "inbuilt" even in english? sounds like you're quoting the documentation..
why would anyone bother to copy that thing?
Camera in the front! Now people can take even more pics of themselves. wtf
It's not clear to THIS reader why Engadget thinks this is a Pre clone.
Simply because it's a portrait-qwerty slider?
Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Go Pre!
(this message brought to you from my Pre).
Speaking as a Pre user, in some ways, this KIRF looks like an actual improvement on the original. I like the flatter keyboard, front camera, and removable storage. Of course, without WebOS, it's a complete non-starter, but still, Palm could do worse than to take back some design ideas from the imitaters here.
Haha, introducing the FacePalm Pre.
Is this a joke, is it a real phone or just a toy product that you can walk around and look like you have one of the best phones on the market (a Palm Pre).
Who is this being sold to?
Not the US market?
Rob
This device is a cry for help. It's calling "Please make the Pre in silver!"
When will you guys stop using roman numerals? CCL maybe?
you can get this for like a backup phone if ur going out and u dont wanna take ur 500$ phone with u.

I find it interesting that they're advertising the cellphone with a near-dead battery.
