At least one TV provider is taking advantage of Sling's veritable bounty of new hardware, and rather predictably it is Dish Network. The rebranding (instead of being SlingLoaded, the
ViP 922 DVR is now "with TV Everywhere", the
Sling Monitor 150 is dubbed the Dish Network WiFi Monitor and the
Slingbox 700U has become the TV Everywhere Adapter) is enough to make your head spin, but at least we don't have to miss our stories, thanks to the recently released Dish Remote Access Mobile App for iPhone and iPod Touch with remote scheduling and remote control capabilities for most Dish receivers. All of the hardware is scheduled to arrive in the second quarter, we'll need at least that long to get our Everywhere and
Anywhere TV straightened out.
wait a minute, isn't this the same unit they showed last year at ces and promised before the end of 2009? and kept moving the date back. and kept me waiting for the switch to dish network?
@nimbusthegreat Yup it is.. but never came out
@nimbusthegreat
LOL...another slingbox FAIL.
Screw that company.
Oh yeah and all you apple users, have fun using your 200$ slingbox on wifi only.

now was that apple jab really necessary? If you must troll, at least make me laugh

Maybe it'll actually come out this year? I was considering Dish but instead of having a dedicated HD option you have to add on HD to a SD option which effectively prices it out of the competition with TWC. Oh well, Boxee Box & Netflix here I come. Most decent shows are on DVD after a year anyway.
@jfine Guess I was lucky and jumped on Bronze Turbo HD when they offered it. 50ish channels all in HD for around $45 with local channels and DVR fee. Dropped my bill in half when I dropped a bunch of sd and music channels I never used.
@KAL326
Yeah real lucky. Enjoy not getting new HD channel adds. I had Turbo Silver and was getting sick of new HD channels coming online and not being added to the HD only lineup. Some I remember are Nickalodean, Fox Business and a few others.
@KAL326
if they finally put bloody BBC America in HD I'd drop SD in a heartbeat
The 722 has been a good box. I wonder how much they are charging for the 922? If its close to the price of the Sling Pro HD I would rather get the 922 and use my 722 on my game room tv as a secondary tuner.
@KAL326 I should have pulled the trigger like you did. When I saw the vids of the 922 from CES last year I thought, "As soon as that comes out I'm switching.". *sigh*
@nimbusthegreat Welcome back Winter of 2008. Oh wait, it's Winter of 2010 ! They promised the 922 is the spring of 2009.
I called and I called and I called. Each time never getting an answer as to when it'll come out.
I wanted to jump the Directv ship when this baby came out. But now I got my bill way down with Direct, I think I'll just stick with them.
Sad, I was really looking forward to the 922.
Nice but i hate their sales tactics. They won't installed a line for my computer.
currently i have dish programming supplied by a terrible local "cable" company that my complex has an exclusive contract with (you hear me grande communications?). i'm ready to make the jump to dish as soon as this baby ships. if it doesn't happen soon though i'm going to go with direct tv instead. i'm sick of providers jerking the chains of their loyal paying customers and then not so much as an apology after screwing us.
Sling box is awesome! Dish Network is for sure taking over. Did you see the update this week about them adding a record amount of subscribers? Good comparison and video on DISH dvr-hd http://www.dishnet-tvblog.synthasite.com
