HP debuts a clutch of new, eco-friendly displays

Companies love to fly their "green" flags, regardless of whether or not manufacturing (or, indeed, operating) consumer electronics can ever truly be eco-friendly. That said, HP is quick to remind us that "white is the new green," in this case the low power, mercury-free, solid state White LEDs featured in the HP Compaq LA22f (22-inch) and HP Compaq LE19f (19-inch). Otherwise, the HP ZR22w (21.5-inch) and HP ZR24w (24-inch) are LCD displays with integrated 4-port USB hubs. All of these bad boys feature HDCP compliant DVI inputs, VGA, and optional USB graphics adapter for up to six simultaneous displays. Pretty sweet, right? The HP Compaq LA22f is packed with features that help promote environmental responsibility. For starters, it is free of brominated flame retardants (BFRs) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This means that all internal and external components (including the power cord) are BFR/PVC-free*, which helps promote responsible recycling efforts. The LA22f is also packaged with 100% recyclable corrugated cardboard and houses a low power WLED (white light emitting diode) backlit panel which provides up to a 40% reduction in power consumption over previous generation displays** to help increase energy efficiency and improve responsible recycling efforts. Finally, the LA22f is fully adjustable so you can stay comfortable all day.

The HP Compaq LA22f houses a WLED backlit panel instead of a standard CCFL panel. WLED panels consume less power than CCFLs and because they are solid state components, they are more resistant to damage caused by external shock. Most importantly, WLEDs eliminate the use of mercury, which addresses the growing concern of these substances and furthers ecological conservation efforts.

The HP Compaq LE19f may look like a standard 19-inch wide monitor, but it is packed with features that help promote®*** environmental responsibility.
