iHome's new clock radios will ensure neither you nor your iPhone ever sleep too late
If you tend to think of iHome as a company that makes things iPhones and iPods can be seen sticking out of, we're here to reinforce that impression with the unveiling of three new clock radio dock devices for Appley goods.
- iP90 Clock Radio/Audio System: This is the latest clock radio from the company, displaying a sleek design (pictured above) that's much more visually appealing than the last one we saw and, interestingly, sports a sync button that will suck the time right out of your iPhone and use it to set the device. No more swearing at yourself for scrolling too quickly past 9:54pm.
- iP42 Dual Alarm Clock Radio: This version (pictured after the break) slims things down a bit and, honestly, uglies them up a bit compared to the iP90, but adds the ability to manage two alarms at once. Sync button makes an appearance here, too.
- iP39 Kitchen Timer and FM Alarm Clock Radio: Wrapping things up is a cooking companion, featuring stainless steel accents that are said to provide "the look and feel of a premium kitchen appliance." Sadly we have no images of this Bertazzoni wanna-be, but we do know that it's designed to be easy to clean, also sports an alarm clock, and adds a dual bake timer into the mix as well.
No release date or prices for any of these at this time. Can your sleep cycle handle this kind of variety? We don't think so.
Update: Justin commented to point out what we missed: that the iP90 will be $99.

I think the iP90 has dual alarm as well... look at the photo, it says
ALM 1 6:00AM
...or use your speakers and the alarm function on your iPhone
Good idea with the time sync button, but why doesn't it just sync the time automatically every time you connect your iPhone/iPod? Maybe it does and manual sync is just an option?
@(Unverified) Probably because there are people out there (like me) that set their clock ahead a couple minutes than normal time. I do it to try and kid myself into not being/getting up late. It rarely works.
@Dapke36 But then you wouldn't use the sync button either! So the sync button still doesn't make any sense. Either you want it to sync all the time, or you don't sync at all. At least I can't see why you'd only want to sync occasionally.
@Unverified User why would you need to sync it continuously. Maybe assuming a clock can keep time is stupid of me but I'd think syncing to set it out of the box would be all you need to get date time and time zone right. It has back up batteries in case of power bump.
Oh, and myself, I think the iP42 looks better - iP90 is too plain looking.
This is the main reason iPhone is the most desirable smartphone. Bloggers don't get it thought. Cuz for them music isn't as important. But for the acerge consumer it's part of life.
@logic thinker Never heard of an acerage consumer before. That they type that likes not-flashy-but-reliable Taiwanese electronics?
ooooh that iHome iP90 is pretty sexy. I've always liked their stuff. It's easy to use and usually sounds pretty decent for an iPod alarm clock.
Worst naming convention ever... "iPxx"?
"iP-freely"
"iP-nightly"
"iP-daily"
My wife won an iHome system in a work raffle or something a couple of years ago. We use it as our main alarm clock, but we never use the ipod features on it. It is a bit clunky to use, so I just use the radio.
Oh neat! An iPod alarm clock, innovative!
@traceroute
iPhone* ffff
"No release date or prices for any of these at this time." For the iP90 at least, the price is clearly stated in the press release: "...maintaining the $99 price point that has made it a best-seller year after year."
@JEdelman Thanks, updated.
@TimStevens No problem. That's easy to miss especially considering how busy you guys are with CES. Thanks for the recognition in the edit and keep up the great work feeding my tech news obsession!
Coming soon to a Bed, Bath & Beyond near you!
What would be a true innovation for iHome would be to get away from that mediocre LED display with the blue backlight they've used since forever, and use an OLED display. They're perfect for clock-radios due to their sharpness and their unlimited viewing angles. These iHome displays? Not so much!!
Examples: Pure's Evoke Flow, or Revo's Heritage.
Sorry, I mean't "LCD Display"
I got an ip98 as a gift, and was actually quite surprised at how good the audio was for an alarm clock.
Meh. I hate top-plug iPod accessories. That thing is just begging to be swiped/dropped-on/otherwise snapped off.
