Sling Receiver 300 catches broadcast TV over WiFi
Already have a TV and don't need the Sling Monitor 150? Sling's filling out its roster of potential products for some friendly OEM TV provider to offer with the Sling Receiver 300. This box is, like the monitor, meant as a companion to SlingLoaded hardware like the (still unreleased) 922 or T2200S, picking up streamed broadcast TV over WiFi at up to 1080i and delivering it to a connected TV via HDMI, component or composite, in-home SlingCatcher style. Want to try it out? We figure a call to the local cable/fiber/satellite conglomerate couldn't hurt.

Sling = Echostar = DISH. Yes, we're all waiting on the 922 and may have to wait a while. This is very interesting. I wonder what else will pop up at CES?
Can anyone tell me what is the advantage of streaming TV over WIFI connection?
@(Unverified) So you don't have to subscribe to cable or satellite?

I think it's just to stream to a 2nd TV. One main box and this companion device to add to other HDTVs. Cable TV with splitters was so much easier.
@shaundh Ah, that makes more sense. I was thinking the HDTV was being streamed live over WiFi directly from the Internet. Which I'm STILL hoping will happen one day. Hulu's video quality doesn't quite cut it yet.
