It's not the courier. Even if the Courier wasn't Microsoft, you'd think they would have seen the buzz for it and got to work on it.

I understand that, but from a usability standpoint UMPC's sucked because they directly ported the OS. Seriously, like 90% of the features the OS has don't make sense for tablet/umpc use.

You've obviously not experienced Windows 7 on a touch screen PC.
The entire OS is extremely touch-centric, and I feel quite confident that this Hp/MS effort will incorporate some of the cool new GUI features of the recently introduced Hp TM2 such as 'flick-to-print'.
It'll be interesting to see what the production version brings.
