TuneBug announces Shake, Vibe SurfaceSound speakers
Speakers that use SurfaceSound technology to pump music through the surface they're sitting on aren't exactly anything new, but TuneBug has managed to put a slightly different spin on the idea with its new Shake speaker -- which, as TuneBug so eloquently puts it, will finally give you some "Music 4 UR Melon." While that may or may not also work directly on your skull, it will definitely work with a range of helmets, including bike helmets with the included TuneStrap, or skate helmets with the included Gecko Mount. Look for it to be available by the end of the month for $119.95, along with the more conventional Vibe SurfaceSound speaker, which will set you back $69.99.

1st gen iphone . . . come on.

It still looks better than the plastic ones.
wouldnt the sound quality depend on the surface u attach it to?
@Arun Balan
Curious as well. How do these types of devices sound? And do you need a particular type of surface for sound quality? Are these better than small speakers?
As an avid biker, I would love to try the bike helmet mounted speakers out. Earphones I've tried really don't cut it, although I'd also like to see open-ear earphones (not headphones) with A2DP if the TuneBug ends up sucking.
Too bad it's not waterproof.
@piggy
It's water resistant, is that good enough?
Am I the only one to notice the blatant theft of the Xbox 360 design in that second picture??
Let's see... White plastic... Concentric circles... Neon green lights in said circles... Yep, they cribbed from MS. Now let's see if it gets the RROD! :-p
What is the deal with CES and Vibrating devices this year...
wow a "thinking differently" product that is actually useful? That's something you don't see everyday, I am very intrigued by this...
though I would rather just buy a helmet with it built in.
This is right up there with Bluetooth for motorcycle helmets in the 'things that fall in the category of bad idea'
Listening to music while riding anything with two wheels, let alone talking on a cell phone is just asking for problems, well except on a closed course.
@webdev511
How is listening to music inherently unsafe?
@webdev511
You missed the whole point of this gadget. You use this instead of putting things in your ears, so you can still hear.
