I could do without that garish Dell logo on the front. At least make it smaller or lighter.
@statelypenguin
garish /ɡ'eərɪʃ/ Synonyms: gaudy, showy, loud, glaring, flashy
You describe something as garish when you dislike it because it is very bright in an unattractive, showy way.
They climbed the garish purple-carpeted stairs.
OR
...the restaurant's garish, illuminated signs.
@Charlie Eggwhite What are you a fucking thesaurus? I think garish worked perfectly, as it fits I would consider a huge white logo on an otherwise all black device as both showy and flashy. And if we check gaudy, we find that works too as it means ostentatiously or tastelessly ornamented. But you probably already knew that didn't you?
@statelypenguin And scratch that "it fits." Normally I wouldn't care if I made a slight typo but I'm guessing you're a grammar expert also.
@Charlie Eggwhite
Die!
Here's to hoping for a great AT&T android phone
@asdr24
Yeah, maybe if they'd let them TURN THE #$%# THING ON we'd know.
With these custom skins, is it possible to turn them off to get the vanilla UI?
@perceptrons
From what I've been able to discern, yes and no. Like with SenseUI, you can remove many of the homescreen widgets, but you can't remove the things HTC put in place to fully replace certain applications.
To fully remove those areas of the OS, you'd have to replace the ROM.
I could be wrong, but I had a very similar question, and that was the answer I was able to find.
I wonder what that dell dude is doin' now.
@ballisticturtle I think he's a bartender down in Texas or Arizona now, getting harassed nightly by people asking him say the "dude you're getting a dell" line. Seriously.
@ballisticturtle I don't know, but here's the beginning of the end for him: http://www.thesmokinggun.com/archive/delldude1.html
@Argonaut
awesome!
it's not a bad looker, let's wait for the specs though, looks are the easy part (maybe not, afterall for some)
I don't think there is a "Dell skin" anyway.
This phone was released here in Brazil, but all the skin job is meant for the Claro carrier (red, ball-like buttons everywhere).
So, when they said it's supposed to be carrier oriented approach, they meant EXACTLY that.
They don't even use the Marketplace, you buy apps from the carrier, too. It's the carrier-intrusive phone changes for the smartphone generation.
Is it possible with a software upgrade to punch the Dell mini i3 in the face?
It is thinner than I expected and a bit better looking.
The wide front bezel totally ruins everything else that might be inviting though. Big bubbly bezels don't hide as well in cell phones Dell
This thing would drive me ape crap crazy. I HATE most shiny surfaces, because I HATE the fingerprints they attract. My Logitech MX Revolution does it, but the shiny ring stays fairly fingerprint free though. Maybe its because it isn't quite a large area?
Either way, I think I will have to pass if it goes to market in its current form.
it's not a cell phone, it's a Dell phone
